If there is at least some truth to Pioli's love for Josh McDaniels would you want Haley fired to be replaced by Joshy boy?I'm curious.

You know what? I'll make this a poll. Wait for it before answering.

I like to assume it would be tough for any team to win with all the loss of players we've had this year. I like Haley still.

I think he stays.

Pioli has only been a GM for 2 1/2 years
there is not enough evidence to show any inclinations of thought
No matter how much the sheep herders of thought want it to be soThere has been at least speculations and rumors rampant on CP that:

- Pioli loves McDaniels and Denver did beat him to Joshy boy.
- Pioli hates Haley and is looking for an excuse to fire him.

They are no more than rumors, I know, but they are enough to make me cringe.

I just want to establish an empirical evidence of how the fans feel about this scenario, in case Pioli or someone from his staff actually glances at this forum every once in a while, and in case they actually give a sh!t about us.

Loaded questions -

The answers to surveys can often be manipulated by wording the question in such a way as to induce a prevalence towards a certain answer from the respondent. For example, in polling support for a war, the questions:

Do you support the attempt by the USA to bring freedom and democracy to other places in the world?
Do you support the unprovoked military action by the USA?
will likely result in data skewed in different directions, although they are both polling about the support for the war.

Another way to do this is to precede the question by information that supports the "desired" answer. For example, more people will likely answer "yes" to the question "Given the increasing burden of taxes on middle-class families, do you support cuts in income tax?" than to the question "Considering the rising federal budget deficit and the desperate need for more revenue, do you support cuts in income tax?"

Here is my thought. We all agree that QB is the most important posiiton on the team.... and it is the hardest position to fill on the team.

Cassel has proven that he plays well in that system under that coach.

McDaniels solves the QB problem. As long as he isn't given control of the personnel side of things, I think he can be a good head coach.

His main problem was horrible personnel decisions. If a shitty GM was holding the reigns there would be no difference!

Yikes! I get a gut feeling that signing Orton is Pioli's way to pave the way for Haley's demise. He knows Orton will not help but it will give Pioli the "I did give Haley a QB, but he failed" excuse to cover his own ass against any criticism when he fires Haley.

We'll learn a lot based on how Orton does in KC.

He did better with Cassel, but you don't know how much of that was Bellichick and how much of that was Randy Moss/Welker. My guess is a lot of both, with a ton on the latter.

In Denver... the offense put up a lot of yards, but the team couldn't win. I think McDaniels is a good X's and O's coach. I think he's a decent coordinator. I don't think he's even close to head coach material. Always seemed to me to be a young kid with a chip on his shoulder trying to prove he's better than the old guys.

I disagree. It won't happen right away. But Orton is a better QB than Cassel. By the last 4 games, I think we'll see that Cassel was a very big part of the problem. If Orton plays a lot better, Haley gets a pretty big reprieve.
