Not even close. I'm not even mad. This shit should have been pretty damned obvious after the 2009 offseason.

His lustre has dulled considerably, no question about it.

He needs to put that GM of the Decade plaque in the closet & get off his high horse.

He still gets credit for trading down in the first round this year and picking up Houston and Baldwin. He drafted well this year.

Since then though? He's been rape and AIDS

If I were a rock climber and Pioli were my arm and my arm was pinned by a large boulder, I'd amputate Pioli.

The team outside the QB is better than we give them credit for, but not as good as they should be. The QB decision was an abomination. And that decision alone should sink him. I also believe that decision alone could save him in 1-2 years.

I won't grade him until I see if he drafts a QB in April or not. He's drafted well the past couple of years. If he gets a QB, he's fine in my book.

Reason Berry is so much more obvious is that he doen'st have to have someone throw him the ball to be a playmaker.

If he just brought Cassel in as a stop gap while he built up the roster and plans on bringing in a guy now, ok.

Problem is, I don't think that was the thought process there.

Anyone who thinks/thought Matt Cassel is a potential franchise qb gets a serious knock in my book.

Like the Berry pick, I'm not going to give him credit for something he should have done anyway.

Carl Peterson broke me of that rule. If we're going to blame someone for not finding diamonds in the rough in the late rounds, making the correct decisions in the first should garner some attention, albeit not a whole lot. I generally agree with you otherwise.

He's brought in plenty of offensive talent. If he cuts Cassel and gives Orton a 1-2 year deal while drafting a QB before the 3rd round I'll give him a solid 90%.

I don't put the Chiefs being 28mil under the cap on Pioli. He's not writing the checks.

Exactly.

This team is not that bad and would look a hell of a lot better behind a good QB.

But again, he gets a failing mark because of his arrogance on the QB decision. And his insistence on doing it his way or the highway. I still blame Pioli for the Weis debacle, not Haley. Also, I think Romeo's starting to make some nice adjustments to the defense. But so far, I think the 2-gap 3-4 was a big mistake.

Hoover

I'll stick by him.

Obviously Cassel and Tyson Jackson are epic fails.

But I think its what he does in the upcoming offseason is what will make or break this team. We have a lot of pieces in place, now he needs to come though when we need it.

As with the Patriots game last week, the Chiefs are being exposed for the glaring talent holes on their roster.

No consistent pass rusher outside of Hali. No back-up QB (and no legit starting QB). No depth at RB. Mediocre offensive line and and overall lack of depth at safety.

All of these holes with the Chiefs sitting on $27 million in cap space.

I like the philosophy of buildng with the draft, but that was actually ushered in under Herman fucking Edwards, and I still feel that Bill Kuharich did a better overall job of drafting.

I have been unhappy with many of the decisions he's made, and have never moved from my belief that he was not, in spite of his resume that made him the most sought after candidate, the best choice for this team.

And the fact is, his forst decision was his worst decision, and his most important.

That decision has set this team back for 3 years now.

Pioli has yet to show he can draft in a way that will allow the Chiefs to build almost exclusively through the draft.

Considering the vast amount of holes the Chiefs have on their roster, they are going to have use an aggressive strategy in free agency this offseason.

There is no way to fill all of those holes in the draft.
