SHAWNEE, Kan. - A driver who crashed into the garage of a Johnson County home says he doesn't remember the crash, but he does remember the homeowner coming outside with a sword.
It happened around 1 a.m. in the 13000 block of Blackfish in Shawnee.
Daniel Scarlett tells NBC Action News he was speeding and playing loud music when he lost control and crashed into the house.
“I was pretty lucky,” Scarlett said. “I wasn’t wearing a seat belt and I still managed not a bruise or a scratch.”
Scarlett says just a moment later, he was greeted by the homeowner, who was carrying a sword and told him not to move because police were on their way.
"At first I didn't know where I was,” Scarlett said. “I thought I was still on the grass and then I noticed a car and a wall.”
Scarlett said he was ticketed for speeding, reckless driving and a seat belt violation.
