Hmmm okay I think I might have fucked something up with my adblock. Anyway, I'm not a huge dubstep guy, I like some of it though. Someone posted this on reddit a few months ago and I was pretty amazed.

I think he is doing some of the additions live, but for some reason he is getting different sounds out of the hitting the same button..

Personally I have only heard a couple good dubsteps, the majority are garbage..

Yeah the switches on the left of his machine switch what's on the buttons I think. You can see him flip those things pretty often.

Sometimes that happens to me. When I reload the page, it usually shows up.

Edit: In fact, it just happened when I quoted your embed. I reloaded and then it showed up in my post.

My 14 year old son turned me onto dubstep a couple of years ago. Deadmau5, Skrillex, Nero, etc. I am in my mid forties, so I am definitely not in the right demographic, but there are some songs that are much better with headphones to get the full effect IMO. Still looking for a song or two to add to the tailgating mix....assuming I ever go tailgate again.

Meh. Most of it I can't stand. There are a few songs that I like though. My Wife loves this shit.

Suffice to say, if you aren't "rolling" then you're probably not feeling the full effects of the music.

Rusko & Skrillex make the best stuff that I've seen so far.

Also, as far as dubstep goes in general, the music is probably a lot better being spun live at a Rave vs in your car.

From a production quality point of view, it brings respect.
Hate the music, but the mixing of the tracks is phenomenal work.

Araabmuzik is the DJ. He's a badass and does a lot of production work for various rappers. Luckily for you, he also releases a lot of free mixtapes. Just google "araabmuzik mixtape." Here's some more:

If you like this more ambient, atmospheric stuff... check out Clams Casino. He's the fucking shit, imo. Does a lot of production for ASAP Rocky, but I dig his instrumental shit. This is a beat he did for Lil B:

So how does a person identify dubstep?

Valiant

I loathe all dubstep and anyone who listens to it.. But, BUT.. This done on a piano is amazing..

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Gg290v572Zw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Now, the question is if anyone can play it.. Seems to me only computer programing could pull off some of the keys..

If there is digital screaming, transformers sounds and random words.. You might be listening to dubstep..

I've spent a few nights in clubs...and DJ'd a few raves back in the day (playing anything from House to Trance to Hard trance/Hard house).

But for some reason, I just cant get into dubstep. (maybe cause I'm older now)

But it just seems like waaay slowed down jungle to me. (and I like Jungle)

Maybe I'll need to give it another chance.

All the "dub-step" portions of these songs have pretty similar sounds. I guess some talent is involved but tons of it sounds the same.

Truth. Some of it even harkens back to some Aphex Twin, but not this crazy loud stuff that's all over TV commercials.

I take it you've seen the South Park episode about dubstep?
