Pittsburgh Steelers (http://www.nfl.com/teams/pittsburghsteelers/profile?team=PIT) All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu (http://www.nfl.com/players/troypolamalu/profile?id=POL041872) won his appeal of a $10,000 fine for using his cell phone (http://www.nfl.com/goto?id=09000d5d82355eaf) on the sideline during a game, according to a league source.

He was fined for using his phone during a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars (http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011101602/2011/REG6/jaguars@steelers) on Oct. 16. Polamalu, who has a history of concussions, had a brief phone conversation with his wife near the Steelers' bench area after exiting the game with concussion-like symptoms.

Possession of cell phones, PDAs or other electronic equipment in the bench area during a game is strictly prohibited by NFL policy beginning 90 minutes before kickoff through the end of the game.

Nice to see that stupid fines get overturned occasionally.

I wonder if his cell coverage is as bad as his pass coverage.

This was the most ridiculous fine by far this season. The guy was just letting his wife know he was alright. Screw Goodell if he claims he's for player safety and then fines a player for letting his spouse know how he is doing after an injury.

Goodell would be better off if he would tebow.

What he did was understandable, but I don't see why his appeal succeeded. Are they going to let every player call his wife and his mother and all of his kids every time they come off the field with a limp?

You can't call your wife if you're hurt. You let this go by, then next thing you know, someone will wear solid red socks during a game or something. Chaos.
