This place is crazy negative tonight. Just thought I'd throw out a thread to see who has a day off work/school tomorrow.

It's a day off to honor a great man who did great things.

I'm outta school tomorrow.

The wife and I are heading to Lawrence to catch the KU game tomorrow night.

Sure beats going to class/lab all day.

No ortho or removable prosthodontics. HOORAY.

I'm officially Jealous that you are going to the Baylor game, tell Scott Drew he's the worst coach in the Big 12 for me as the Jayhawks help Da Bears to the ranks of the defeated.

I think it's goddamn ridiculous that there is no school tomorrow, I'm sure that kids staying home playing fucking video games all day is exactly what MLK had in mind when he gave his "I Have a Dream" speech.

That won't happen around my house because my son will be doing nonstop homework and i'll be occupying all of the video games. ;)

LMAO

That would make a great speech at a school board meeting.

Although around here, this day may become immortalized as "Free Hootie" Day.

Oh, and this is right on the heels of them having two fucking entire weeks off for the holidays. No wonder we're raising a generation of dumbasses.

Why are you lookin so forward to a 4th loss? Well, as Chiefs fan I guess that is a dumb question.

We didn't get any of these holidays off, as a matter of fact if no one froze to death overnight in the area we had to brave it through 3 or 4 feet of snow.

You actually see a scenario where Drew outcoaches Self? He can certainly recruit but coaching isn't his strong suit.

That ain't no shit. Last what, Thursday I think it was Lee's Summit schools were closed because it was "too cold". I mean fucking really? I never had school called because it was too cold. There had to be tons of snow and ice for school to ever get called.

I just think Baylor has the most talent in the Big 12. They have the size to match up with KU and they have they the skills to play through lesser coaching. then again it is at KU and you can never count out KU at home.

Ya my favorite was a couple of years ago on a tuesday night they were calling for the mother of all storms to hit. Shawnee Mission closed up shop for the rest of the week and we received exactly zero precipitation.

We get hurricane days, set days off during hurricane season regardless of the weather, at the public schools down here in the Sunshine State. Dumbest idea ever. Only got to enjoy them my senior year almost 6 years ago.

Just another day for me. The good thing about these holidays is that the parking lots, trains and buses are half empty.

The only holiday that I don't get off that really burns my ass is Veterans Day, for obvious reasons. Beyond that, I don't really care.

I have off, no idea why, it's 20 degrees and I"m rather be making money. January and February are the two months out of the year where I'd rather be making money than doing anything else.

The one holiday that's really laughable is Columbus Day. Columbus discovered America in much the same way Santa Claus delivers Christmas presents.

BEFORE I share this story let me just say it is absolutely true and I'm telling it how it was told to me and it does not reflect my thoughts.

Some years ago my little bro was working in the DC area and they had a morning show on a classic rock radio station hosted by a guy that called himself The Greaseman.Anyhow,MLK day comes around and he makes the comment,"Why don't we plug four more and get the whole week off?" followed by, "Come on, now, you know I don't mean nothin'!"

He was suspended from the station for five days, publicly apologized, and donated money to create a scholarship at Howard University in honor of Dr. King.[8] The Washington Post noted that he was the highest paid DJ in D.C. during 1987, making $400,000 a year.

Don't forget me watching the DP show, then getting some blood work done, a little shopping and taking the wife to lunch.
