I don't see how. I'd be willing to bet that not a single Republican votes for Kennedy in any 2012 primary or caucus.

They WILL note that Romney is completely out of touch. Newt is pretty rich these days, too, but he knows better than to keep putting his Gucci-shoed foot in his mouth.

Gingrich won this debate handily IMO. Romney seemed like an equivocating car salesman. Santorum struggled to stay relevant with his "me too!" approach. (reminds me of Butters on South Park). Ron Paul continued to play to his fan club, but didn't seem serious.

I would agree that Gingrich won again going away with Santorum 2nd, Romney 3rd, and Paul last again

Overall I think this was the group's strongest debate. All the candidates seem battle tested and strong. The president is an underrated debater but I think any of these guys (with the exception of Paul) after running the gauntlet should be able to best him.

Newt seemed strongest but everyone was on their game. Mitt only stumbled with respect to his tax records which makes me think he has some real problems in there.

Ron Paul gave his best answer in any debate on jobs and trade. I never thought I'd hear a politician stand in front of an audience and give outsourcing the defense it deserves. As he said, outsourcing is just another form of trade and weve known since Ricardo that in the long run trade benefits everyone. Cheers to Paul for that.

If Paul's only staying in for Rand's benefit then he's incredibly foolish. Rand was an initial supporter of PIPA which makes him nothing more than just another corporate stooge.

[edit] Rich Corinthian leather - outsourcing - of course! Why didn't I see it?!

Ron Paul didn't mention Ricardo directly but he made a strong argument. Outsourcing gets a lot of heat from people who don't know much economics and think its just jobs going away. Paul did a good job explaining how outsourcing (and other trade) ultimately benefits the economy as a whole.

I've seen this talking point at least once on this very forum. It's been touted the reason why Ron hasn't bailed out of the GOP nomination and announce as a 3rd party bid.

I stand corrected on me thinking Rand supported PIPA at the outset, I must have glazed over an article that noted that Rand called out Rubio for supporting the stupid act.

Newt is obviously the best debater out of these four but that doesn't automatically make him the best candidate. I don't understand why people dismiss Ron Paul just because he is a weak debater. Mitt never answers any of the questions he is asked clearly. He just answers with how bad Obama is doing, and then gives some bullsh*t line that the American sheep want to hear.

I think what you might have seen is the theory that Ron Paul won't run third party AFTER he fails to get the nomination because of how that would impact Rand. I doubt that many people are saying that he's staying in the GOP primary race for Rand.

I take back my grade for Paul. I said B, but I missed the first half of the debate. I've seen the whole thing now, and I think he deserves an A. He was very assertive. He got the message out very well. And best of all, the crowd got involved when John King tried to ignore him on the abortion question. That was the best thing to happen to Paul because it was so transparent.

I'm very satisfied with Paul's debate performance tonight and am optimistic about his chances to finish top 3 and knock Santorum out here. From there, I think it will be clearly a three man race, and I like Dr. Paul's delegate strategy to take him all the way to the convention.

Maybe you have more in common with your 8 year old niece than you think. There's a difference between the two? You mean like on the individual mandates that both Romney and Newt support? How bout the level of spending and the expansion of government from 2000-2006? There are no differences between the two parties in terms of spending and size of government.

The youth and cross-over vote didn't turn up for Paul on a rainy day. Youth are not the most reliable voters. Paul has to have them show up. Paul did great on a college campus....it was packed. On the other hand it was empty with Gingrich booked the same venue. So Gingrich had to cancel.

Did you know that polls show SC to be 50% non-interventionist in FP? Apparently they're not in the Republican party down there. Add in the fact that FOX promoted it was a closed primary when it wasn't. Very subtle how the Establishment misleads people.
