This poll will decide eventually who is the greatest SNL cast member. To qualify the player must have either been a not ready for primetime player, featured player more than three seasons or on the evening news. There were 95 members that fit this criteria. The poll may take awhile to get up as it will be quite long for the first round. Choose 10.

This round will bring us down to the top 55.

Wow, lots of good ones in this heat. My votes (in order) are:

1. Tim Kazurinsky. Great cast member. Extremely underrated, and one of the funniest guys SNL has ever had.
2. Phil Hartman. Funny, funny guy. Too bad he's dead.
3. Jon Lovitz. Funny even if you just look at him.
4. Victoria Jackson. One of the best female cast members ever.
5. Dennis Miller. I like him and I won't apologize.
6. Norm McDonald. Kind of a poor man's Dennis Miller.
7. Jan Hooks. Pretty versatile and funny.
8. Darrell Hammond. Fine character guy.
9. Chris Kattan. Makes the list. Kind of weirdly funny.
10. Tim Meadows. Seemed kind of funny.

I think this is kind of a lesser heat towards the bottom. I usually rate those who just do the news as lesser cast members. I voted for Dennis Miller and Seth Meyers even though they didn't really do much outside the news.

Haha. Hartman for sure.

I see Kroger on this list. I went to school with him and he was a fun guy. He gets on SNL, strikes out and he comes back to Iowa and acts like his shit don't stink. I hate it when its parade time and he is the MC...

Man. I can't find Kazurinsky's work on SNL in any videos at all. It's a shame, because he was really good.

You can vote for up to 10.

Or I could just vote all of them

You could do a poll on best SNL year/cast. I always thought it was the one year, 84-85, that had Billy Crystal, Christopher Guest, Martin Short, Harry Shearer. Etc. Billy Crystal was amazing, in one year he created so many characters that SNL fans still remember.

He's on there. Not getting any support. As I recall he was on the show during a low period.

No one on this list should even be close to Phil Hartman.

He's a top 5 all time guy.

I'd say on this list its Hartman/Hammond and a big dropoff.

Yep, Hammond is great, they couldnt have asked for a better guy to fill Hartmans shoes.

No one could touch his Clinton impersonation.

My personal favorite is his Sean Connery:

"The day is mine Trebek! I'll take the rapists for 500."

"That's THERAPISTS!!!"

Keep voting. Order of vote will determine seeding for the next round and those nominated for the winback thread.

So far looks like only five spots look like they will get in.

Hartman
MacDonald
Lovitz
Miller
Hammond
Meadows

If it keeps going like this then there won't be many from this round in the winback.

Hammond nailed the laid back, southern boy pooterhound side of Clinton to a T.

Calling this round. Moving on are:

Phil Hartman
Norm MacDonald
Dennis Miller
Jon Lovitz
Darrell Hammond
Tim Meadows
Seth Meyers
Chris Kattan
Victoria Jackson
Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Below that, a whole lotta suck.

How the hell could I forget the role of Connery on Jeopardy? Those skits were pure hilarity.
