View Full Version : ChiefsPlanet Wanna test something for me? (now with ability to save your art!)

OK this is not at all ChiefsPlanet related... but it'd be cool if some of you could take a couple seconds and test this. It basically lets you color a placemate online. Like you're a little kid at a restaurant!

(In theory, I guess we could adapt the code to easily allow us to drag and drop different formations and draw up plays and post them here.)

I really need some mobile testing and people with iPads... I'm pretty sure it works in most modern desktop browsers... but please post here if it gives you any errors.

Yes, it is completely unpolished right now but I need to work out any bugs before it gets the finishing touches.

Also, feel free to post your artwork in this thread! :D

The line that you draw shows up to the right of your actual cursor location on the placemat.

Kind of difficult to use on my mytouch cause of the fact you have to keep zooming in and zooming out.

yeah, this version isn't optimized for small screens. Final product will have a different version for small screens... maybe a pan and zoom model.

Yeah, FF 10.0.2

I'll try it in a couple other browsers.

Using firefox here and the same thing happens. Doesn't work at all in IE9

Chrome works perfectly except that the "eraser" also erases the image on the placemat.

Didn't have any issue with it using Chrome.

Ugh, now I have to load up IE. My PC is probably going to catch on fire or get the e-herpes.

IE9 wouldn't display the placemat. Gave me:

Firefox 10.0.2 and the mouse is way off. It is way to the right of where you are trying to use it so you have to adjust by placing the cursor to the left.

I tested Chrome and Opera and they work perfectly. IE9 is supposed to work.. I just added something that may fix it. Test it now. Unfortunately I'm limited on this machine and can't test much.

cool. OK, so fix the FF offset issue and the lack of placemate in IE and we should be good.

If you hit CLEAR ALL does the background image show in IE9?

haha, nice one.

In reality, these are just test colors, after the testing is done, the colors will be chosen to fit the placemate... as will the name, logo and other custom fields.

I do like the idea of drawing up plays. What would be cool would be a little flash or java doodad that worked like the play editor in Emmit Smith Football for the SNES.

I just tested this on Dolphin HD Browser for Android... worked a treat. I was also able to duplicate the erase feature killing off the images on the mat. No offset issue unlike on FF.

I was using an HTC Evo 3D

OK, so Firefox should be fixed. Now just need to make it so the placemate auto-loads in IE and everything should work except for IE* and earlier... and screw those people.

Using FF 10 the line doesn't appear from the point of the cursor, rather from the center of the cursor. Not sure if that's intentional.

That was due to the 4px border. I compensated for that.. should be more accurate now.

Thanks. I noticed that on a touchpad as well. I am thinking I either need to add some extra multitouch controls (which could be a bitch getting it to override the drawing functions) or just not allow zooming.

AustinChief

OK, I haven't fixed the zoom issue or the eraser (which I think I will just get rid of the eraser).. but now you can save the image!

Anyone want to test it again for me?

http://linkperk.com/mats/scratch.php

Next step is to customize the placemat with persons name and other info... but that is all server side code so no need for testing there.

yeah IE8 is the only "modern" browser that doesn't support CANVAS. Which I am fine with, it works in every other browser including mobile ones, so not a huge deal breaker.

Sucks cuz the new version will let you save your artwork and then you can post it here easily now!

OK so I need an icon for the CLEAR ALL function (the eraser has been nixed for now.. cuz seriously, who can erase crayons!)

ANy ideas what would be a good "start over", "RESET" or "Clear ALL" icon?

Considered that or a squeegee... not sure it's intuitive enough.
