I've got 50 grand riding on USO. Just waiting to pull the trigger. Come on $6 gas.

Well I didn't put that much on oil but I did pick some up a couple weeks ago and added to it last week.

Read some article outlining why gas will be 5/gal by Memorial Day. I'll see if I can dig it up....

Of course this will happen when we are going on a driving vacation for the first time in 4 years.

Obama said this was the goal. Maybe he finally delivered.

I don't care who's fault it is, if this country has $5 gas at election time, Obama is fucked.

Blessing for us all?

We need one of the conspiracy nuts to tell us that the oil giants are doing this on purpose to kick Obama out of office.

And yes, it would probably slow down the bleeding, but we are fucked with either party running the show.

It would be a good enough reason to throw all of them out

That would be the greatest period in recent US history.

POTUS has a minimal influence on the price of gasoline. While I'd love to place this on Obama (and he has made it clear he wants higher gasoline prices), it isn't his deal.

Having the roughly 400K bpd production from the Deepwater GOM that went away following Obama's moratorium could help. Not to mention the Dept. of Interior's constantly adversarial relationship with domestic oil and gas producers and a dept of energy that hasn't done much in the way of encouraging energy production and I'd say that O shoulders a chunk of the responsibility.

If he thinks his "economic recovery" is going to survive or continue in the face of $5/gal gas he's so f'ing delusional he should be checked into an institution. The only question now is when O starts tapping the SPR to artificially depress prices so he can stave off early retirement.

Perhaps.

This may be the one area where even the strongest Obama supporters don't have the balls to blame Bush.

Exactly right. Any “recovery” anyone thinks is happening would get donkey punched straight to the junk by $5/gal. gas.

He had also made some comment that energy prices would necessarily have to skyrocket with his energy plan (Cap and Trade):

So it's not like high energy prices are a problem to this guy.

Since hcf loves me and values my opinion..

I am watching O'Reilly tonight and he was going off on the oil companies for shipping all the oil overseas. Since we had a warm winter we had excess supply but the oil companies sent it elsewhere. Then he wants Obama to do something about that...yet bitches about Obama trying to run a nanny state. Confusing I know. But apparently supply is high and demand is low so there is market manipulation by the oil companies and speculators.

Also I have been reading that because of our sanctions on Iran we are strangling their economy and they are having a hard time selling their oil which has caused oil to spike along with a potential war with them.

Damn I hate it when they start with the money saving tips as much as I hate the reasoning they always give for the rise in oil prices. Oil climbing again today, up $1.64
