Hmmmm, I might have to consider this. We would like to have more security but the contracts for current companies are way overpriced.

Nice security system there, but I can bring a female dog in heat to your house or 2 lbs of hamburger and that sweet puppy is like putty in my hands...

there are several cheap options.

NextAlarm is one, my parents have had it for years.

They say they will be adding some very soon to be available for this system.... If this thing works the way they claim, it would be perfect for my situation here.

Nice, I was looking at two systems at Costco, yesterday. I'm going to buy something this spring.

I may have to pick one of those up. One of my friends that comes over to the Man Cave is always on his damn phone. (You know the type) One of those would solve the problem.

I've been debating it as well. They are illegal in the US though, which is why most of them come from China.

With the number of wireless camera/security systems sold in this country, I'd have a set of jammers as my number one tool. If I were a thief that is. Don't bet on obscurity.

From Wiki...

United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States): Cell phone blocking devices are used by federal officials under certain circumstances. Privacy rights of property owners may affect the policy and application of law within buildings. The FCC may issue a permit that waives the law for private use. For radio communications, it is illegal to operate, manufacture, import, or offer for sale, including advertising (Communications Act of 1934 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communications_Act_of_1934)).[11] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone_jammer#cite_note-10) Blocking radio communications in public can carry fines of up to $11,000 or imprisonment of up to one year.[12] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone_jammer#cite_note-11) The Homeland Security Act of 2002 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeland_Security_Act_of_2002) may override the Communications Act of 1934.[13] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone_jammer#cite_note-12)

I'm guessing if the signal is not broadcast beyond your property nobody will complain though.

Now the jammer will work but the alarm still goes off and if you buy the outside extra alarm it's suppose to be as loud as the front row at a rock concert...

I live in a modest house in a modest neighborhood, I don't expect people from the movies to come in and steal a couple of my guns and a laptop or two.

Are you sure? I'd have to see the schematics of the system in question, but most don't have an audible alarm built directly into each sensor. Most are bluetooth or wifi connectivity between the sensors and the main unit which houses the audible/signal alarms. This jammer blocks the GSM signal to the monitoring service as well any sensor to controller wireless activity.

It's not like this gear is "hollywood". Truckers use these units to block GPS signals on their trucks to keep from being tracked. You can buy these online for pretty cheap. The jammer I linked to is CHEAPER than your alarm system. Hell, I'd take your alarm system on the way out the door as well!
:D

I guess I just don't see the point of these half-assed "peace of mind" products.

The system can be used with or without monitoring Also it says the signal is transmitted within 2 seconds... Also the base station can be put anywhere, I am not sure of the range of the jammer.

The delay on the audible alarm can be adjusted up to 30 seconds upon entry.

Range is about 20 meters on the cheaper units.

Still don't know how the signal works between sensor and base. Easy to test though. Park outside and turn the jammer on. Wait 60 seconds. No alarm, have at it!

That would be a kick in the sack. Come home and not only are your guns gone, but the alarm system has been packed up and boosted. LMAO

They better hope the cops run them down, before I do.

Any idea what the range is on those cell jammers?

Edit: I see you answered that, while I was making the post.

Properly bolted into the foundation.

Things that don't go in there, like TV's and laptops I just rely on insurance. Data I rely on TrueCrypt and backups in the safe. SDB as well for soft/hard copies, some cash, and other precious items.

I used to use these little portable alarm systems called Tattletale alarms all the time. They work pretty well. Hit me up if you have questions.

Got the system today, seems pretty cool....

Sends me a text when the alarm is armed, disarmed or triggered...

Home mode activates door and window sensors, away mode activates door and motion detectors... Suppose to not go off for pets under 50 lbs, my dog is 30 lbs and has not set it off

If any of you decide to buy one... PM me as if you go thru me since I bought one you will get an extra 5% off of the system and I will get a free month monitoring for you buying one...

This thing is pretty cool, it sends you a text when the system is armed, disarmed or the alarm goes off or when power goes off in the house it has a battery backup system that will last 4 days if the power goes off though.
