The dude was always good for a roughing the punter or QB penalty.

Too bad... every year I have played Madden the dude blows up, leads the team in tackles, and always winds up in the mid 90s ovr.

So what kind of cap savings does this get us? $3.00 and some change?

Demorrio Williams had a $2.3 million cap number. Mostly special teams.

All things considered, it's a pretty sensible cut.

We all have Demorrio Williams to thank for DJ. If it wasn't for Williams' inspired play in 2009, DJ never would have ended up in Haley's shithouse for dogging it, and DJ never would have had to work his ass off to overtake him on the depth chart.

One of the few benefits of Haley's rigid dogma was that it did truly bring out the best in the team's stars.

I think this team is better with Williams on it, but now that DJ has elevated his game to damn near All Pro status, there's really no need to keep a backup on the roster with Williams' contract. DJ's durable.

I hope he lands in a great spot elsewhere. He's perfect as the athletic ILB in the 3-4.

We have a shit-ton of cap room and we cut a guy just to save a couple bucks?

I think this is also an indication that Brandon Siler is healing quickly and they prefer his upside.

this was not a cap saving move. It's called upgrading depth son.

Or cause you don't pay someone 2.3m for 18 tackles a year.

And add to the mix Brandon Siler. Maybe he's shown the coaches something than being more than just a special team role player during his rehab.

He healed quickly, then perofrmed drills? That would be my common sensical guess.

I don't see how healing quickly or performing light drills would give such an indication, but hey to each their own.

I was kind of surprised that Williams couldn't find a role in the lineup prior to 2011. It always seemed to me like he was better than our fifth-best linebacker, especially when he was behind Corey Mays. I liked him on special teams, too, but maybe we were paying too much for a backup linebacker and good special teams guy.

I don't think he was ever happy here, and he played it out professionally. Cheers to him finding a new starting job.

Nobody celebrated a meaningless tackle better.

This reminded me of Sammy Parker.

He would catch a 2 yard pass for a first down.... (on second down) and spin the football and signal the first down. Idiot.

It's not like it a was huge game deciding 1st down on 3rd or 4th down.

how awful was this dude.

wasnt he the last "fa splash" signing by King Carl and Herm the Germ and they brought him in from the Vikings to be a STARTING LBer

then the Haley clan comes in, gives him a depth chart pass in the starting role in the first crap year to piss DJ off.

Then this dude gets beat out by every undrafted FA, camp body, practice squad, DII, DIII player that the Chiefs bring in at LBer.

quite sad, especially if you ever heard him in interviews the last couple years, definitely wasnt happy being here, but he did suck. Couldnt cover, cant play special teams, penalties and he cant rush the passer worth dog poo

I could have sworn they brought in Williams and that other guy at the same time to "improve the defense." I thought Williams was the Vikings guy.

That's right. He was bitching because we cut him after he led the team in tackles even though the tackles were for 8 yard gains.

As I alluded to, veteran ILB Demorrio Williams has agreed to a one-year deal with the #Chargers.
