I'm honestly done with other people scraps. I'd rather see some young guys out there proving they have it. Draft a QB, let him and Stanzi fight for first or thrid spot and stick Cassel as number 2 for your experienced backup. Not that there might not be space to sign some other crap FA QB and dump Cassel, and stick him in as the backup.

Really shows you how blindly committed to Cassel Pioli is. Orton comes in on short notice and immediately plays better than Cassell and isn't even given a chance to compete for the starting job. What's that say that Orton goes to the Cowgirls to be a backup. If he had any shot at competing with Cassel for the starting job in training camp he signs with the Chiefs. This proves once and for all that outside a superstar like Peyton Manning, Scott has no interest in bringing in competition for Cassel. Die of AIDS Scott!!!

If someone is opting to go sign somewhere else as a backup it's because he's not going to be given the opportunity to start. A QB is not going to turn down an opportunity to start. I think they'd have brought Manning in if they could have - the gate receipts, merchandise sales and publicity would justified the risk.

I think Pioli and Hunt believe Cassel is good enough. They think he can be Joe Flacco.

I don't think they have any serious thoughts about another QB. They lust after draft picks.

This is why they let Carr walk for someone cheaper and not as good. The hubris, believing they can draft so well they can replace anyone.

The Patriot way works when you have Tom Brady and Bill Belichick... The formula is not any more complicated than that.

Orton was a mediocre QB (though still a modest upgrade over Cassel). We can get to the playoffs with a mediocre QB, but we should aspire for more. The fact that he'd rather sit with a clipboard in Dallas than start in another city also tells you something about his drive and ambition. I think Orton is in the process of checking out. If so, don't need him.

The good news is that we will likely get a 5th or 6th round compensation pick for losing him.

gold_and_red
03-14-2012, 01:53 PM
We should have signed Orton, made him our starter for 2012 and then traded up for a franchise QB in next year's draft (although clueless Dan Snyder has set the worst precedent for this scenario). Great QBs don't grow on trees, so we must take any improvement even if it means only a slight one as in Orton vs Cassell. Trotting out Cassell this season is going to deflate the fan base. Captain 3-and-out also puts too much pressure on D and Romeo must know this very well. Last I heard guys are passing for 5000 yards just like that. 4000 yards seems to be very attainable.
And don't get me started on Stanzi. For god's sake he was behind Shane Falco on the depth chart. Enough said! Unless he improves leaps and bounds in this training camp or the next, he will be a career backup.

Chiefs should have signed Orton and cut Cassel and pursed a QOBTF. At least with Orton, you can run a legit NFL offense instead of wasting time having the players learn a dumb-downed offense that the mentally-challenged Cassel requires.

THEY didn't draft Carr, Herm did.

Of course, Herm drafted all of THEIR stars.

ROFL

How bout that?!?!

Did the Chief's draft Carr or not?

I fail to see your point. The organization's thought process should be build through the draft. Now occaisionaly a new coach may not like a player and let them go, but I have seen no evidence of that with Carr.

Seriously, by your standards Romeo should get rid of everyone on the team and start fresh. I mean he is a new coach, so it's time to start fresh in the draft right? :)

If this team doesn't sign peyton... We are going to see record low attendance.

Seriously fuck this front office.

Seriously **** this front office.

I don't think we'll be that bad, even with Cassel. But when Cassel struggles this year, as he of course will, he and Pioli will become the most hated figures in the history of the franchise.

Adjust your sarcasm meter.

They've said they want to build through the draft yet they let Carr go.

So obviously, their standards don't apply to players THEY didn't personally draft.

They will sign some reject, rinse and repeat. It is going to be easy not to pony up for Sunday Ticket this year. Losing Orton does piss me off, he made the offense watchable without me having to throw shit at the tv.

yeah right, who am I kidding.

Evidently the Cowboys were desperate for Kyle Orton. Paying him $5.9m in first year of 5-year deal.

Saw that.

Obvious WHY he didn't sign here now....

Pioli offering him a $20/week allowance just wasn't going to cut it.

10-6 or 9-7 with an awesome defense. Truefan will jerk each other off in the parking lot as we head to another 10 years of mediocrity.

Fuck this franchise. Fuck em fuck em fuck em.

(Same thing would have happened with Orton)

If the chiefs cut cassel and signed orton, they would have broken even.

Sometimes you need to start fresh even if it sets you back
How do you keep the players motivated into the 4th year with Cassel
How do you NOT keep the fans down on the farm & away from Arrowhead
