"Up to," huh?

Incentive laden, with decent guaranteed money. Smart deal for Seattle. And we lost draft trade leverage.

Too bad. That makes it much less likely that a team will want to jump in front of Seattle to grab Tannehill.

Miami's gotta be gripping right now.

I'd of MUCH rather had Flynn instead of Quinn. Big fan of Kyle O'Quinn, though.

wow ... Miami will go after Alex Smith harder now which means the 49ers will have to decide quicker about Smith vs Manning.

I hope Manning takes another week or 2 before he decides

Not quite the deal some people were speculating after week 17.

Nobody has said it yet, but perhaps he would have been a better target than Manning given what he got.

Cherry picking Packers QBs has worked out well for Seattle before.

I'm pretty happy about this signing. He's unproven but it's not like we got in a bidding war and overpaid for him.. Hope he works out. :thumb:

Good for you! I'd rather be in your QB situation than ours.

It seems the NFL learned from the Cassel deal. It's the same exact situation, but Flynn got less than half the money and no draft picks.

I would take Flynn over any draft pick the Seahawks would have had. (obviously RG3 and that Stanford guy will be gone) Tannehill using a 1st round pick? No thanks, I'll draft a passrusher and take my chances with Flynn..

It's nice not to have to use draft picks on unproven qb's

Cassel had played a full season and Quinn just a couple of games so it is a bit different.

Tannehill is not a franchise QB

There's no reason to get a QB in this year's draft, at least in the first round. It's a horrible draft for QB's outside of RGIII and Luck.

I agree. Tannehill has the tools, but he's not a very good QB IMO and I've seen him play a lot. He'll go in the first and I don't think he's worth the pick.

I wouldnt mind Weeden or Foles in the later rounds, but I'm betting they stick with what we got.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading this years first for a first next year to see if we can hit the QB lottery.

You are definitely better off with Flynn and you still have your pick.

Cassel played an entire season, went 11-5 and missed the playoffs, which pretty much never happens. Flynn basically played one out of this world game during week 17 against Gunther's defense.

Boom or bust, but it's nice to see almost every team in the NFL making moves to improve their QB situation. He's got alot of potential to become the QB a team is looking for, but he's going to make some mistakes along the way. If he can get into a groove early, he may have some staying power. It will be interesting to see how he plays this upcoming season, but I certainly think he has more potential than alot of QBs out there.

The one thing you know about Quinn is that the big man had him in Cleveland, so he knows exactly what he is getting. It's not a bad back up QB situation. Romeo is on top of this one.

Ironically, Flynn has more playing time and experience than Matt Hasselbeck did before he became a Seahawk back in 2001.

Yes, the backup QB. An integral part of any SB run.

Only $10M guaranteed for Flynn? Back to the flaming aids tree for Pioli.

Cassel was tagged at 14 and there was a bidding war for him with Denver. Different than Flynn.

Amazing similarities Geez! Quote below credit to Mike Sando ESPN

Flynn, like Hasselbeck in 2001, came to the Seattle Seahawks from the Green Bay Packers. Both were reunited in Seattle with personnel people they knew in Green Bay (John Schneider for Flynn, Ted Thompson for Hasselbeck).

The Seahawks believe they have a strong supporting cast in place for Matt Flynn. Flynn is 25 years old. Hasselbeck was 26. Both quarterbacks, though unproven, appeared close to joining the Miami Dolphins before landing in Seattle.

Flynn's new coach, Pete Carroll, has a 14-18 record and one playoff appearance with the Seahawks. He has been on the job for 26 months. Hasselbeck's coach in 2001, Mike Holmgren, had a 15-17 record and one playoff appearance with Seattle. He had been on the job for 26 months when the Seahawks landed Hasselbeck.
