What a kooky trade. I think I have to sing about it!

(To the tune "Get outta Denver.")

I still remember it was springtime and the Donkeys were a smilin'...

The Donks got Manning, and that started off Tim Tebow whining

Elway doesn't care and Tebow was a' bending over

Heading down from the mountains knowing we was traveling further

All the fires were blazing and the spinning wheels were turning turning

Tebow just got bufu'ed, and his bung hole was a burning burning

Rex Ryan loves him like a funky southern tent preacher
The Jets trade for him, and Tim Tebow is the main feature

He told the GM that he needed something to get going

He pulled out all he had and laid it on the table showing

All Tebow had to do was to grab the contract, and pick it up

Then Sanchez came a busting in, and he was screamin "What the FUCK?"

Go! Get out of Denver, baby, go, go

Get out of Denver, baby, go
Get out of Denver, baby, go, go

Get out of Denver cause you look just like a Jet

And might just be a member...

Get out of Denver, baby

Get out of Denver.

All the Broadway Lights were flashing and the fans were a screaming
screaming

They had to pinch each other just to see if we were dreaming

Made it to the practice field in under less than half an hour

Lord, he threw a hundred passes then he went and hit the showers!

Tebow is a virgin he won't even try to wear a rubber

He may be Gay, but if he is, you know the team will cover

He can't complete a pass, but somehow he just keeps on going

He reads his bible all night long and then into the morning

Season finally started, when we looked to see where we was at

We're staring at a really crappy QB as a New York Jet!

Go! Get out of Denver, baby, go, go

Get out of Denver, baby, go
Get out of Denver, baby, go, go

Get out of Denver cause you look just like a Jet

And might just be a member...

Yeah, he's not a fit for that team or that town at all, in personality or in skills.

I could see Ryan using him as a slash kind of guy, which would work well, but Tebow's going to hate every minute of his career there. It's almost as if Elway deliberately tried to screw him over.

Not directly but when you add the draft picks gained plus Tebow being gone and replaced by Manning the ledger is definitely in the black.

I don't think adding FAs count like that.

You spent a 1st on a qb.
You had to sign a FA to replace his shittyness and trade him for bottom barrel picks.

If we traded a 2nd for cassel, and traded him to someone else for a 5th then it was a wasted pick, even if the FA pick would of been manning.

There, is no black on this trade. All in the red on wasting a 1st rounder.

The Denver Broncos continue their free agency period with not another Colts player on Wednesday morning, but with tight end Matthew Mulligan, formerly of the New York Jets, reports the Denver Post's Mike Klis. Mulligan is a blocking tight end who has six career catches in three seasons.

Klis believes that the plan appears to be the creation of a tight end combo that replaces Daniel Fells and Dante Rosario, who left through free agency. Former Indianapolis Colts tight end Jacob Tamme would be the other half of that combo by being the pass-catching tight end. Tamme is visiting the Broncos on Wednesday, too.

Welcome to the new Denver Broncos.

The Denver Post
Free agent quarterback Caleb Hanie.
One day after officially signing quarterback Peyton Manning, the Broncos are furiously attacking free agency to fill another needs.

One hole will be backup quarterback, and Denver is in the process of talking to multiple teams interesting in acquiring Tim Tebow, the team's starting quarterback until Manning arrives.

The first backup the Broncos are looking at is Caleb Hanie, who played at Colorado State, and the previous four seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Hanie did not play well in relief of injured Bears quarterback Jay Cutler last season, going 0-4 with three touchdown passes and 9 interceptions. One of those losses was to the Broncos, 13-10 in overtime in Denver. Hanie did play a nice safe game, completing 12 of 19 passes for 115 yards and no interceptions.

However, the Broncos like Hanie's athleticism and playmaking ability and they believe he was thrust into a difficult situation with the Bears last season.

The Broncos will also talk to quarterback Billy Volek, who is entering his 13th season and has spent the last six years in San Diego.

Steelers cornerback William Gay will join Saints cornerback Tracy Porter for scheduled visits today to the Broncos' Dove Valley complex.

The pair would be the third, and fourth defensive backs the team has hosted, having already signed safety Mike Adams to go with a previous visit from safety Brandon Meriweather.

Gay has spent the last five seasons with the Steelers, having started 15 games in 2011 as he finished with two interceptions. Porter's most notable play in his career is his interception of Manning in the Saints' win in Super Bowl XLIV.

Gay spent Tuesday with the Titans and was on a Wednesday morning flight to Denver.

The Broncos also have interest tight end Matthew Mulligan, a 265-pound blocker, and former Manning teammate, tight end Jacob Tamme. However, Tamme has drawn some interest around the league and may have priced himself off the Broncos' list.

Sanchez is not a certifiable "bust", not by a long shot. Very young. He has just under 70 starts College and Pro, most QB's have that coming out of College. Lack of establishing running game and forcing him to pass more, was a departure in game plan. His numbers were actually up yardage and TD's , while down at INT. Lack of wins overall are always unfairly set upon the Quarterback.
Tebow was brought in as a "Gadget" or "WildCard" player, Tony Sparono introduced that system again to the NFL and some teams like the Jets had some of those plays in their book. They had an Athlete like Smith, to run that option, he left last year in free agency. This is a move to bring an Athlete into the roster.

Report: Tebow smitten with 'Glee' star

"Glee" star Dianna Agron is in the middle of a love triangle involving actor Sebastian Stan and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow that seems straight out of a scene from the FOX hit drama series.

Blonde beauty Agron, 25, dated Stan, 28, on and off for about a year, but Denver Broncos star Tebow has told Agron that he is smitten with her.

"Tim has made no secret that he likes Dianna, and told her so, but she has remained faithful to Sebastian," a source said.

But Agron and Stan, who live on separate coasts, apparently split recently for the second time. A source said they were going to live together but now have parted ways, citing the distance between them and their work commitments.

Agron lives in Los Angeles, while Stan lives in New York and recently has been filming USA's "Political Animals" in Philadelphia.

The split leaves the door open for Tebow to nab Agron. But the devout Christian quarterback has other things on his mind, such as his possible departure from the Broncos, who just signed Peyton Manning.

Tebow has been the focus of trade rumors with teams including the Jets, Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars. Even Denver's John Elway said, "Tim Tebow is a great kid. If I want someone to marry my daughter, it would be him."

When asked about a split between Agron and Stan, a rep for Agron insisted, "Not true." Stan's rep did not respond to requests for comment, while reps for Tebow declined to comment.

Jets’ trade for Tebow hits a snag, could be voided, Rams may get him

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 21, 2012, 3:26 PM EDT
New York Jets v Denver Broncos Getty Images

Tim Tebow may not become a New York Jet after all.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Broncos and the Jets have encountered a hangup in the language in Tebow’s contract that could nullify the trade. Schefter cites a Broncos source as saying the hangup could keep the trade from happening.

The contractual issue apparently arises from a clause in Tebow’s contract that could require the Jets to pay up to $5 million to the Broncos. The Jets may refuse to do that.

If this turns out to be a serious enough problem that the Tebow-to-Jets deal cannot be completed, then Tebow would go back on the market and the Broncos would try to find a new trading partner.

According to Schefter, the Rams may be that new trading partner, and Tebow could be shipped to St. Louis if the deal with the Jets falls apart. It’s not clear whether Tebow would prefer the Rams or Jets, or if he’ll have any say in the matter at all.

At the moment, the deal is Tebow and the Broncos’ seventh-round pick for the Jets’ fourth- and sixth-round picks. We don’t yet know what the Rams would be willing to give up for Tebow.

They're both gadget players, right? And I really don't hate this acquisition for the Jets in terms of personnel.

Organizations blow late-round picks on gadget players all of the time. Brad Smith, for example, was drafted in the fourth round by the Jets.

They've given up slightly more and acquired, basically, the same player. When Smith was drafted, no one in his right mind thought he was going to be the QB.

Same thing should apply in NY this time around; the organization traded for a wildcat option. Tebow is not and will never be a QB, so the trade isn't a disaster at all, with proper leadership from the team.

Rarely are gadgets selected at #36 overall, and I don't know anyone who would claim that McBust doesn't fill that role.

It will take willful naivety on the part of Jets fans to argue otherwise. Meanwhile, Sanchez essentially has a make-or-break year ahead. He regressed in year three, so he needs to take two important steps forward to suggest that he'll develop into the franchise QB the Jets believed he would be.

I've thought about how this might work and obviously the circus atmosphere is going to be interesting and painful for Jets' fans. But, maybe this isn't so bad for Tebow.

I said often last season and then repeated this recently, prior to the PM talk, that if Denver was going to build around Tebow - he would need strong pass catching options at RB and TE, in addition to strong WRs.

In NY - they have those types of weapons. Now, I haven't reviewed the FA items with NY this season, but I'm assuming Keller is still there. Green is a good RB with nice receiving capabilities. The WRs - barring any changes are good as well.

So, there's no doubt that Sanchez is going to struggle at various moments & the Jets are going to design some packages specifically for Tebow. I hope that he's able to take advantage of the opportunity.

The stadium creates issues with the wind, so that's not good for any QB, much less one that is still working to improve in that area. However, if the focus is a short passing game with RBs, TEs and WRs taking 10-15 yard passes and focusing on YAC... it could work.

Tebow offers a lot of option for them... hopefully they'll devote the time to help him develop in areas where he lacks, but there's no denying that his drive, enthusiasm and leadership will be great for the team.

I don't know how Sanchez is viewed in the locker room, but I would imagine that Tebow from day one would garner more respect from the players as a leader - so it will be interesting to see how this develops.

I wish him nothing but the best and I hope he proves all the doubters wrong... including myself. I have lots of concerns with him, but I won't say he can't overcome the challenges and be a success.

Can't wait to hear the rumbles in the locker room as soon as that first pass toward Holmes dives in the dirt.

The Jets are in for an epic collapse and I will be there to watch the whole thing burn.

Maybe it works in NY...

NY has nice pass catching RBs and a strong TE - this is good for Tebow's game, and Denver didn't have either last year.

Absolutely Priceless!!!

NYC is perfect for Mr. (Good) Deeds
Tebow on big stage is true 'winning' -- unless you like Charlie Sheen's America

March 27, 2012, 12:25 AM ETBy Ian O'Connor | ESPNNewYork.com

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- If Tim Tebow would never pass judgment on The Guy Upstairs, he did blame "the guys upstairs" for making him attend sports' most surreal news conference since Sunday's big winner, Tiger Woods, stepped through a blue curtain two years ago to apologize for his extramarital sins.

Management made me do it -- that was Tebow's plea to those asking why the New York Jets' new backup quarterback would participate in an event perceived less as an interrogation of him and more as a choreographed ambush of the starter, Mark Sanchez. And that was fine, even if his response suggested that Woody Johnson, Mike Tannenbaum and Rex Ryan were eager to get the Tebow train rolling despite their claims to the contrary.

Only Tebow proved he can manipulate the truth, and use his aw-shucks naiveté as a weapon, when he dodged all responsibility for the giant ad that his sponsor, Jockey, slapped above the Jersey side of the Lincoln Tunnel. "We Support Tebow & New York," reads a billboard that could be interpreted as, "Move Over, Mark, There's a New Sheriff in Town."

"Hopefully," the former Denver Bronco said of his Jets teammates, "they know that I had nothing to do with that. And I don't think that would really have an effect on people in the locker room because there's not much I can do to control that."

Really? If one of the world's most marketable athletes told his reps to respectfully low-key things until Sanchez had time to gather himself, they wouldn't have listened?

So no, Tim Tebow isn't perfect. In an age when star athletes plunge from grace faster than any of them run the 40-yard dash, we're constantly reminded that perfection is the most elusive goal of all.

But for all the alleged downsides of Tebowmania hitting Broadway -- the undercutting of Sanchez, the guaranteed division in the locker room, the uprising to come in the MetLife Stadium stands -- one major benefit has been lost in the hysteria.

By choosing New York over his Jacksonville hometown, Tebow picked the biggest possible stage for his good deeds, no mere footnote. You can call the wayward-throwing Tebow a fake quarterback, a fullback who happens to line up behind center, but this is no fake philanthropist. By all accounts Tebow leads the league in uncommon decency.

So it came as little surprise that Tebow was most passionate Monday when talking about his life mission, when explaining why he'll never define himself by touchdowns or passer ratings.

For most of this 32-minute, peace-in-the-Middle-East-sized news conference, LMAO Tebow said little of game-day substance. With the Jets' practice facility all but surrounded by satellite trucks, and with more than 200 credentialed members of the media waiting for him inside the field house, it was lights, camera, inaction.

Tebow wore a light-gray suit and Jet-green tie as he stood at a microphone in the field's end zone and spoke again of how exciting it was to be Sanchez's teammate. He did finally confirm that he preferred the Jets over the Jaguars because he knew Ryan and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano (Tebow has no relationship with the Jacksonville coaches), and he did volunteer that Rex's agent is also Tebow's agent, Jimmy Sexton (how convenient).

Yet Tebow mostly spoke in platitudes that sounded rehearsed, at least until the subject turned to his charity work here and abroad. The new recruit didn't light up the three dozen cameras aimed at him as he outlined his priorities; cynical reporters are conditioned to zone out on athletes rattling on about this cause or that one.

But Tebow's response on his foundation's work sounded more sincere than anything he said about his role with the Jets. It went like this:

"Absolutely I'm looking forward to doing things here in New Jersey and New York and figuring out a way to just try to make a difference and try to help. My foundation is something that is extremely important to me, and something that I'm very proud of, and so proud of the 650 orphans that we support, or the 18 Timmy's Playrooms that we're building, or the hospital in the Philippines that we're building.

"Ultimately I know that that's more important than anything I do on a football field. There's the ability to brighten a kid's day or the ability to make someone smile. ... We're put on a pedestal as a football player, which makes us no more important and no more special than anybody else. But you have ... a responsibility to be a good role model, to set a good example, to make a difference in kids' lives."

Tebow went on to tell how, as an 8-year-old, he waited in line for an hour hoping to get Danny Wuerffel's autograph at a church function. As it turned out, one Heisman Trophy winner at Florida waited around long enough to sign for another, and young Tim never forgot how Wuerffel's patience and kindness that day made him feel.

"Ultimately," Tebow said Monday, "I know that my biggest goal in being here, and being a football player, is to set a great example."

This isn't about Tebow's faith or his very public expressions of it. This is about what that faith inspires him to do.

Tebow is world-famous for hosting and comforting the sick and less fortunate (read Rick Reilly here). His foundation supports noble causes in his football stops (Gainesville, Denver) and in places where most people have never heard of the Wildcat (Haiti, Bangladesh).

The Jets have had their share of exemplary role models in the past; Curtis Martin and Chad Pennington come to mind. But they were widely respected football players, not transcendent global figures.

So it didn't matter that Jets officials remained at the league meetings in Palm Beach, far, far away from this strange introduction. It didn't matter that Giants co-owner John Mara mocked the proceedings, or that Tebow wasn't even given a jersey to hold for a photo op, LMAO or that Sanchez didn't show for the presser the way Derek Jeter showed for A-Rod's way back when.

Tebow was strong enough to handle it on his own. Some people say he's more famous for being famous than he is for throwing and running the ball, but his kind of celebrity is needed after the Lindsay Lohan-ization of Charlie Sheen's America.

So New York is the right stage for Tim Tebow. If the Jets lose, guess what?

Humanity still wins.

There's obviously a tremendous amount of attention paid to him that he hasn't asked for... he does do things to bring attention, but it's not a negative drive on his part.

Ownership asked him to participate in this press conference. As mentioned prevoiusly, he won - he's a big draw - people love and hate him equally. Tebow is a 'good guy' and he's potentially going to be involved in a significant part of their offense.

Sanchez is the starter - part of this move was to utilize the skills that Tebow has to diversify their offense and win. Part of it was also to light a fire under Sanchez. Sanchez has had success - but he's not a leader... yet. Ryan and the defense are the face of this team, they are what turned this team around and produced wins and playoff success early in Sanchez's career.

It's time for Sanchez to take that next step... they're paying him good money and competition isn't a bad thing. If Sanchez can't survive Tebowmania, then it's on him. All he has to do is perform and Tebow will never have the opportunity to take the job from him.

There's absolutely a place for Tebow on most teams in the NFL... can he be the starter? Possibly, but he'll have to earn it.

Tebow is a quality person with many things that you cannot coach or instill into a player... he's a natural leader. Sure, this will be a circus, but Ryan can handle that part of the game.

“I’ve talked to John Elway several times about him, I told him you got all these guys working with him but trust me, they’re on the wrong path,’’ the source, a former NFL coach, told The Post. “His biggest problem is he carries the ball too high, when he carries the ball high on the back shoulder he has a long release, which means when he cocks the ball and throws it that ball is moving a lot, which is not going to help his accuracy, it’s going to hurt it. Nobody’s corrected that in him.

“And he’s got a loose wrist, when he comes back with his wrist the ball is moving all over the place. You watch that ball, the nose is forward and then it’s sideways and then it’s up and it’s down, you can’t throw the ball that way. It’s correctable.’’

The awkward throwing motion is not the only issue with Tebow, who starred in college at Florida using his formidable athletic gifts and the superior talents of those around him.

“The guy is not the sharpest tool in the shed,’’ the source said. “He’s a great leader, 10 out of 10 as a leader, energy, work ethic, everything you want in a quarterback but he doesn’t see the field.

“It’s hard for him to go back and think a progression through: If this is the coverage go to this guy, if this is the coverage go to that guy. He doesn’t do that very well. That’s the difference with college football and pro football. It’s so much more sophisticated and he’s limited that way.’’

Used strictly for a handful of plays in the Wildcat offense, Tebow can excel — as long as the package of plays remains small and limited in scope.

“If you practice them all the time you can get good at ’em,’’ the source said. “Where you get the upper hand is the defense has played eight games and they haven’t seen the Wildcat yet. They’ve got to use a number of plays on their practice schedule that week to the Wildcat and they may see a lot of it and they may not see it at all. But this isn’t some offense that can’t be stopped.’’

Tebow gets booed at Yankees game

Posted by Mike Florio on April 15, 2012, 9:24 PM EDT

While attending a Yankees game on Friday, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said that the “feels bad” for “the Sanchez” because fans will be cheering for backup quarterback Tim Tebow during the first game of the 2012 season.

New York fans attending Sunday’s game at Yankees Stadium got a chance to chime in.

Art Stapleton of the Record reports via Twitter that Tim Tebow was shown on the large video monitor attending the game, and that his image was greeted with “loud boos.” Later, Stapleton explained it as “[f]aint cheers” and “mostly boos.”

Though we won’t know what the fans at MetLife Stadium will do until they assemble for a Jets game and Tebow trots onto the field, it’s safe to say that Tebow won’t be hearing many cheers if/when he starts burning worms and/or putting balls in the front row.

BS. People who think that way are dumb. There is a reason Tebow got booed. Over 90% of Yankees fans are Giants fans.

History tells you, Giants once played at Yankees stadium and Jets played at (Mets) Shea Stadium.

Rex Ryan, Mark Sanchez or anyone from the Jets would most likely get booed in Yankees stadium.

Tebow is a backup quarterback. He is sitting in a house where players like Mo Rivera and Derek Jeter are 5x World Series champions. Tebow should of stood up and cheered them!

I'm mostly sure if he was at a Mets game, fans would boo him.

Tebow is not a star in New York. You have to earn respect here.

This ain't Denver.
