Tim Tebow is being allowed to pick the team he wants to go to. He picks the trade. Jets or Jacksonville.

Denver or Jacksonville? Shouldn't it be NYJ or Jacksonville?

If the Broncos had stayed with Kyle Orton last year, they finish 5-11 or 4-12 and Peyton Manning doesn't give them a second look.

So true.

No doubt... So, we can thank McDaniels?

Possibly, we are following up the firing of McDaniels with a division title and playoff win... Then acquiring Manning while trading Tebow with about $20m still left on the cap.

We are SOL.

Wow, I have a good friend at work who is a Jets fan. This could be interesting. It's going to be hard for me to root against Tebow. Kind of like Orton. I wish them both well unless they are playing against my team.

Uhh, that is still the same supporting cast around the QB.. And Peyton went to the team with the bigger checkbook not the better teams.. If that is the case he would of went to Tennessee or SF..

This is an "unmitigated disaster" for the Jets:

Which is pretty stupid because the Jags need income and Tebow would generate it. Now Mularkey can try to build a superior franchise and get some playoff wins to generate interest from fans who don't really give a shit. If it really came down to the HC vs. the owner, and the HC won, then Mularkey is going to have to be remarkably successful to even come close to generating the income that Tebow would have. Dumb move.

Sounds like Denver fucked him.

Ugly Duck

so is jets paying that 5 mil to broncos or what?

I think they decided to split the difference:

"Adam Schefter is reporting on ESPN that the Broncos and Jets have again agreed to a deal that will send Tim Tebow and a seventh-rounder from Denver to New Jersey in return for a fourth- and sixth-rounder. The Jets had announced the same trade earlier in the day but had not yet read the details of the quarterback's contract; at issue was the $6,277,500 guarantee Denver had paid Tebow last summer.

$5,036,250 of that figure covered Tebow's 2012-2014 salaries, and as is customary with such advances, any team acquiring Tebow would owe the Broncos a refund on the salary already paid but not yet earned. Instead, the Jets and Broncos have agreed to split the difference, meaning the Jets will be sending Denver about $2.5M to complete the deal.

According to Schefter, the Jaguars had jumped back into the bidding after the initial deal fell through, and were willing to pay most or all of that $5,036,250 figure. Schefter reports that Tebow ended up having some input into where he landed, and he chose the Jets, despite wide assumptions he preferred to go home to Florida.

As Schefter puts it, the Jets coaching staff was clearly more interested than the Jaguars coaches were, and this apparently made the move to Gang Green more appealing to Tebow."

Broncos took best deal; Tebow had no input; Jets declare Sanchez starter

Contrary to previous reports, the Broncos did what was in their self interest as an organization.
Vic Lombardi reports (https://twitter.com/#%21/VicLombardi/status/182651438730719233): NEWS: I can confirm the Jets offered the better draft picks. The Jags package was less attractive. The Broncos chose the Jets.
Mike Klis confirmed this (https://twitter.com/#%21/MikeKlis/status/182680599943852035): Jags offered same $2.53 million rebate as Jets. No more. Difference was Jets gave 6th to Broncos in return for 7th. A 40-plus move up.
Lombardi also confirmed (https://twitter.com/#%21/VicLombardi/status/182652036423221248) that neither Tebow nor his brother Robby had any input into the trade.

Bad news for those who thought the Broncos would let Tebow get back to the south as he was hoping. Good news for those who believe in the power of the free market.

Sure, the Jets are already massaging (https://twitter.com/#%21/TheJetsStream/status/182656408876089344) Mark Sanchez's fragile ego: they are saying Tebow is only the back-up quarterback and will only be used in the wildcat, but you've got to love it when the invisible hand taps Mark Sanchez on the shoulder and says, "hey, bro, you wanna workout?"

Jaguars offered Broncos a 4th-rd pick and were willing to pay Denver most, if not all of, $5 million in question on Tim Tebow's contract.

**** Denver. You will be exposed this year for the frauds you are.

I've heard that before... guess it depends on what type of frauds they are? They're an 8-8 division winner that hadn't done anything worth talking about for several years.

Do I think they're automatically a top 3 AFC team now? No.

Jets declare Sanchez starter

I wonder why NFL football teams seem to always have to declare the starting QB before a competition? Are the egos of the guys so fragile that they don't want to hurt their feelings? When you got guys like Sanchez and Cassel as your QB, your team should not declare the starting QB until after they earn it by beating out the competition on their roster.

I still can't believe the dim wits who wanted the Chiefs to have Sanchez.
