Pretty much covers all the bases.
The trade hurt the Chiefs chances at addressing NT early though. Can't win 'em all.
Hopefully Aubrayo Franklin is signed to be a stop-gap and you have time to wait on either Powe or Robertson to develop.

Round 1.18: (DE/OLB) Whitney Mercilus
Round 2.44: (QB) Brandon Weeden
Round 2.49: (G) Kevin Zeitler
Round 3.78: (CB) Dwight Bentley
Round 4.107: (RB) Ronnie Hillman
Round 5.146: (S) Christian Thompson
Round 6.182: (TE) DeAngelo Peterson
Round 7.218: (DT) Travian Robertson
Round 7.238: (WR) Keshawn Martin

[Trade]
KC trades the #11 pick to SD in exchange for the #18 pick.
KC also gets San Diego's 2nd Round pick (#49).
SD also gets to swap spots with KC in the 3rd Round.

Seems like a pretty sweet deal for San Diego.

Who is San Diego trading up for?

Also, it would be nice to get Ta'amu with one of those seconds. He would be perfect at NT for Crennel's defense.

Actually by the chart...it favors Kansas City.
We only move down 4 spots in Round 3.

DeCastro.

That's the only bad part about the scenario.
It put us in a bad spot to draft a Nose Tackle in both the 2nd and 3rd Rounds. The way the mock fell, we never had a shot at Ta'amu and just missed out on Chapman in Round 3.

So we are moving down 7 spots in the 1st round and 4 spots in the 3rd round, and not gaining anything? Still seems like a pretty good deal for San Diego.

I've seen Ta'amu mocked anywhere from the middle of round 1 (Chargers at 18) to the late 3rd. It's hard to tell where he will fall since he really only fits the 2 gap 3-4 NT. If the Chiefs could trade down a couple of times and get to the bottom of the 1st, I could see them taking Ta'amu there.

The Chiefs would gain a 2nd.

Just saw the extra 2nd rounder in your list of players! My bad!

Didn't see that in his trade discription.

We got San Diego's #2 pick (49).

I goofed, sorry.

With two 2nd's, you can surely figure out a way to get Ta'amu.

I'm sure you could package them and move back up to the top part of R2, but I felt the value for both Zeitler and Weeden was worth staying put.

This particular draft addresses most every need the Chiefs have.
I also think it's pretty solid value wise.

You add another talented player to the fold at DT, but certainly he's not as talented as Ta'amu.

Fair enough. I really like the Mercilus pick. We need to abuse opposing QB's this season.

The Chargers need passrushers. I don't see them trading up for a guard.

Hate it. Trade would never happen, and it seems like you took nobodies just b/c they play a position of need. I'd rather take better players for depth in an area that isn't necessarily a need and leave needs unfulfilled , than grab a JAG to fill a need.

So you think a guard(not a true position of need for the Chiefs), and a 28yr. old rookie QB, who has a very small window to realize his potential, is more valuable than a NT that can command attention, push the pocket and pressure the opposing QB?

Nah.

After his senior bowl, I'm sure he'll go anywhere from mid first to mid second.

There's no way in hell I use any draft pick, much less a high 2nd, on a 28 year old QB who would only roughly have a 3 year window of prime years.

I also challenge you to find the last trade between division rivals in the AFC (AFL) West.

Round 2.44: (QB) Brandon Weeden Gross
Round 2.49: (G) Kevin Zeitler Good
Round 3.78: (CB) Dwight Bentley Don't like

Round 6.182: (TE) DeAngelo Peterson Fantastic!
Round 7.218: (DT) Travian Robertson Actually never heard of him
