My mission, should I choose to accept it:

1. Come up with a way for the Chiefs to trade down continually in this draft. Must be believable. (Use this draft value chart (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au_NykMAUAyWdGdMQ2txcHBTRVlLZENENVY5TlM3Tmc#gid=0).)
2. List out the picks I have accumulated.
3. For shits and giggles, just throw out the names I'd pick if you could with the picks you've accumulated.

I'll go first.

The Chiefs are up at #11.

Rothlisberger can't take hits all season, every season. With Kalil off the board, only Jon Martin provides a surefire left tackle. We offer the Steelers a deal for them to trade up to our pick.

Our 1st: 1050 points
Steelers 1st, 2nd next year (scored as a 3rd this year), 4th, 6th: 900 points

The Chiefs now sit at #24.

Following players still on the board: Barron, Hightower, Hill, Konz.

Jacksonville badly needs WR help for their struggling franchise QB, and as it turns out, the trade down isn't that expensive.

Our pick at #24, 4th: 758 points
Jags' 2nd, 3rd, 3rd next year (4th this year): 790

That's it.

The Chiefs have officially traded out of the 1st.

They get 10 picks in 2012, four in the top 100:

2.38:
2.44:
3.70:
3.74:
4.119:
5.146:
6.181:
6.193:
7.218:
7.238:

Plus they get Pitt's 2nd and Jax's 3rd in 2013.

Not even going to try to be fancy with these picks. Just plugging in names.

2.38: QB Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State
2.44: CB Alonzo Dennard, Nebraska
3.70: NT Josh Chapman, Alabama
3.74: OT James Brown, Troy
4.119: WR Ryan Broyles, Oklahoma
5.146: OLB Bruce Irvin, West Virginia
6.181: FS Justin Bethel, Presbyterian
6.193: DE/OLB Frank Alexander, Oklahoma
7.218: C Adam Gettis, Iowa
7.238: SS Sean Richardson, Vanderbilt

Plug in Andre Branch instead of Weeden and you've got a deal. Bruce Irvin won't last til the fifth, so plug in Russell Wilson there. Richardson is unlikely to drop to 7 in my opinion so plug in Elvis Akpla there.

All fine.

Irvin is undersized, though. It's not unrealistic for him to fall.

Dontay Moch blew up big boards last year with Irvin's exact measurables, and he didn't do jack last year.

I'm not a big Irvin fan personally. I think he will be overdrafted. As you said, he's undersized for our defense and from what I watched, if he doesn't blow by a guy he has trouble shedding blocks. That's a big red flag for me.

I actually love his teammate more.

Julian Miller. Good production, good speed, fantastic arm length.

Much better fit for the 3-4.

Damn you have a serious man crush on Weeden.

I think he's the only potential franchise QB we can get our hands on.

Do we need to start a Weeden thread so I can take my beating properly in one thread?

How is Weeden a potential franchise QB? Seriously. At max, you get five good years out of the guy.

I suppose it depends how you define franchise QB.

What's the proper amount of time?

I think I'm more willing to think outside the box than you are.

A franchise QB should give you ten good years, imo.

I disagree that he is a potential franchise QB. The man is pushing 30 and he is no Luck or Newton who could come in right away and start. He would be 31-32 before he is NFL ready and then you only have about 5 years with him. I will pass on a QB this year than waste a pick on Weeden.

If he is a mixture of Peyton Manning and Brett Favre

he starts day 1
he stays healthy and plays like an ironman until he's 39

if everything goes 100% perfect you get 10 years out of Weeden ... 2 contracts. How many times does something go perfect?

If he is just "good"

He starts his 2nd year
He plays until he's 36

You get 6 years ... not even a 2nd contract. Just a 2-year contract extension

If he is "normal"

He starts his 3rd year
He plays until he's 34/35

He barely finishes his rookie contract BEFORE RETIRING

any problems, any injuries ... if anything at all goes wrong you have wasted your 1st round pick.

Not a good starting place, at all.

yes and everything should be rainbows and skittles too

If Weeden can play and get good within 2 years, I'm down for it.
