Most of us remember the Gannon story. Out of football, brought back in to be Grbac's understudy. Grbac gets hurt, and Gannon guides the team to the playoffs. Grbac is supposed to be healthy and mentally stable, Marty puts him back in the starters roll, and promptly tanks. Gannon leaves, goes to the Raiders, earns an MVP nod, and takes the boys from D block to the Superbowl.

Is there another late blooming, underutilized hero waiting for his opportunity? If so, who is it?

There aren't many of that kind of player in the league any longer. Gannon made a lot of money dinking and dunking. Offense has changed. Players are evaluated on measurables. He probably wouldn't play if he were drafted today.

Dude was an MVP. Hes not a Hall of Famer, but he had a really nice 4 or 5 year run with the Raiders.

Marty never should have put Grbac in. But we beat the God damn broncos in that playoff game. Fucking refs gave the Broncos the win. THAT WAS A CATCH BY TONY G.

I'm still not over it.

More like most valuable cog. He was the ultimate system QB in the only system in the NFL that fit his noodle arm and running ability. Put him with any of the other 31 teams and he is exactly a mediocre QB.

Yeah, I want to know who the next QB who will throw 5 INTs in the SB is, so we can stay the heck away from him.
