There are probably only a few thousand fans there. Pathetic for a team that is 9-7. If we were 9-7 Kauffman would be packed.

Yeah they haven't been great thats for sure. Obviously we haven't had much need for Soria's saves but it would be nice to have another live arm in there to take up some innings.

Can we seriously stop with the automatic sacrifice bunt attempts to get the leadoff hitter from 2nd to 3rd?!

It was probably a good play in this situation. Maybe a pinch runner for Pena would have helped as well though.

However, doing it in the first few innings is dumb as hell.

is it ever really a good play on a team who can't get clutch hits?

the sacrifice basically puts more pressure on one at-bat, which makes Alex turn into Alice and the Royals hitters generally pucker up their anus holes.

Yes, because in this situation they only need a fly ball to add an insurance run as opposed to possibly 2 singles or a double to score the run.

I do get it in that situation but we seem to do it every time we get a lead off double, regardless of the inning or score. That said, Maier was at bat and is a lefty who I would rather see swing and try to get a grounder to the right side. Especially considering Maier earlier this week bunted it right to the pitcher as well resulting in an out at third in the same situation.

Bullpen: Live arms haven't been the issue. Everyone down there can bring it and has good stuff. It's been being consistent and getting through innings clean.

Bunting: The bunt there was not awful, but good lord... pinch run for Pena if you're going to do it. Having him at 3rd for the sacrifice is much more dangerous if the guy there can actually run.

Anybody know the word on Paulino? Haven't been paying attention.

Felipe Paulino (forearm) allowed three runs over four innings Wednesday with Double-A Northwest Arkansas in his first minor league rehab start

Paulino gave up four hits (including a home run) while fanning eight and walking a pair. He threw a total of 75 pitches, so it shouldn’t be much longer before he rejoins the Royals’ starting rotation. Luis Mendoza is expected to get the boot from the rotation once he’s ready.

Duffy has been one of the true positives during this horrendous start, so it would be fitting for the Royals if this ends up being something serious.

Unless this is a prolonged thing for Duffy, of course. Is Mendoza expected to stick around in the pen or get demoted when Paulino comes up? I think he has some value coming out of the pen with his sinking action.
