We had him ranked as the #1 NT before the combine...

On Poe playing 2 gap technique....

He has done it some, Wilfork and Seymour had never played a 2 gap technique in college but you see things in people that tell you they can do it

Why the emphasis on "him?"

Is Poe a tranny?

This from the GM who saw things in McCluster that told him he could play WR.

Has lateral strength....we didn't look at just strength to push but lateral strength so he doesn't get washed out off the line

lateral strength is the new second level burst.

Maybe it was because Wilfork and Seymour used to tackle ball carriers in college. Maybe that gave it away...?

Our board was set before the combine so we don't get caught up in pure numbers

We probably should trust him a bit more on DL's than WR's, this guy also drafted Chad Jackson..

very rumsfeld-ian

not dominating is proof you can dominate the same as actually dominating...

What position will utilize Poe's ability to be lethargic and unenergetic off the snap?

The Pork-technique?

here's to hoping that we rape the rest of our draft

Yeah, he remarked that seeing Poe on film reminded him of watch Matt Cassel's game film from college.

Chad Jackson was 100% Belichick ignoring his scouts and going with who he wanted according to the book War Room. Same story with Mauroney, BB liked him and McDaniels was in love with him, but the scouts hated him...

They charted every play he played for the last 2 years. Because of the spread 49% of his snaps he really couldn't do much about it

petegz28
04-26-2012, 09:38 PM
We charted every single snap of Poe this year and last and it is understandble why the production isn't there on paper.

49% of the snaps were plays that would not allow him to produce, i.e. screens, quick hitters, etc.

Fits the mold physically
Fits a need
fits mental makeup they require

not a risky pick

The irony of this is we have a big fat sloppy coach who is going to try and motivate our big fat sloppy nose tackle.

Did he say anything about being backed into a corner on reaching for a NT because they have no other realistic option on the roster?

Wait.

Did we not see Powe chase down a screen in preseason play last year, and isn't Poe a hell of a lt faster?

Sounds like bullshit to me.

Poe is huge, but only a dumbass thinks he's big, fat and sloppy.

As much as I didnt like the pick I could be wrong bout him. After listening to Crennel bout Poe it might be a great pick, I mean lets give the guy a little slack he had 3 different defensive coordinators and they played him all over the place instead of a place where he could be dominate. This is a boom or bust pick.

I've watched a few different "tapes" on him tonight and I can say a lot of what I have seen there isn't much a D-line can do against quick passes or runs to the outside.

That being said what I have seen that is positive is he seems to take on the double-team and hold his ground more times than not....

Memphis moved him all over the line...

Memphis sucked ass on defense
