what is our contingency plan?

I think Inside LB depth is a huge freaking need. I cannot take another year of the Sabby situation - at any position.

Our depth was reinforced in some key spots this draft; namely T and G. Of all positions, both ILB spots have Sabby potential if starters are out.

How do we compensate, strategy wise, if DJ or Belcher are out? Because the talent drop off will be a huge liability.

Is it really possible to have a modern NFL team and not have a thread like this at some kind of position? Just seems like having depth you are really gonna feel good about isn't possible.

Siler can fill in just fine if Belcher goes down...DJ on the other hand, we're fucked.

You can say that for most All Pro caliber players in the league. It's near impossible to have quality depth everywhere in the NFL.

I'd guess Siler or Greenwood would step in.
Not great options, but how many teams have All-Pro options at LB BEHIND their starter?

They are hoping Siler and Belcher are all the depth they need.

yes its a gamble, but is there anyone out there to add to the roster?

Right, I understand there is no replacing an All-Pro guy.

My major point is that the sway is so huge if it happens, just like it was with Berry last year.

By going from All-Pro talent at a position, to a guy who's not even stop gap worthy, I think hampers us more than if we had a serviceable starter who goes down, to a guy who's not even a stop gap.

I say that because the rest of the D has to completely re-adjust strategy wise all the sudden.

Belcher or Siler will step in and be serviceable, before his injury last year Siler was a great run stopper, and many on this forum believed he would usurp belcher. So At the very least behind DJ we have a potential NFL starter caliber guy. Belcher proved he could do it last year, and Siler has done it as well..

Unfortunately, God actually forbade that one.

I think the alternatives at LB are much better than they were at Safety last year.

God forbid Berry goes down...

We have stop gaps for Hali. Not even comparable talent wise, but we won't just get raped all of the sudden because the replacement is a liability.

We saw what happened with Berry... still think we need depth there even though we added a draft pick behind him.

Disagree. The team would be more fucked without Hali and it's not even close.

We just go get a vet like Seau or something.

What?

Oh, that's too bad.

Maybe at the thumper spot (Belcher).... but the finesse spot(DJ)?

Disagree. The team would be more ****ed without Hali and it's not even close.

I wasn't comparing who's better, or who has more value to our team - its Hali by a landslide.

I am comparing the back up talent should one of those two go down.

There was nothing to agree or disagree about.

Why do people have to argue things that don't exist?

People assume Siler will make the team. He was an average slow player before tearing his achilles.

QB
RB
WR
TE
OT
OG
DE
NT
CB

We've got solid depth behind valuable players at each of these positions. That's better than almost every team in the league.

We lack depth across the LB corps and have iffy depth at safety.

I'll take it.

And what pile of shit would you rather have in place? Siler will make the team by default because there's nothing else talent wise even close to starter material at ILB.

I raelly liked what I saw from Bobby Greenwood last season in the preseason.

Raw talent, but the athleticism was clear to see.

With a full offseason and continued coaching, I think he'll be a hell of a backup option to DJ.

I believe the correct response is that we would take a shot on Seau.
Seriously, how does Junior Seau commit suicide yet Rex Grossman still lives?
