I'm helping someone put together a presentation to the public, and the person has a degree in gerontology. If you were sitting in the audience and someone said they had a degree in gerontology, would you know what this means? I'm debating if I should suggest having them explain it.

I would figure it has something to do w/ old people. Am I close?

It's the study of the migratory patterns of several species of penguin. Penguin or Emu, I guess I get those mixed up sometimes.

Nope, had to Google it. My guess was pretty close though, just going by the medical specialty with a similar sounding name.

Remarkably close. It's the study of elderly penguins.

Yes, it's the name for the poor bastards who study old people (for some reason).

I'd have them explain the word, though, because there will be enough people in the audience who won't know what it means, unless it's a convention of gerontologists. ;)

Cool. With about 30 percent of people being unfamiliar with it, I think I'll recommend explaining it.

Without looking, I'm guessing the poll results are something like 100% "hell yes I knew immediately what that word meant are you kidding in fact I bench pressed the guy that invented that word 100 times".

Am I close?
