Yeah I heard that too and I was loving it. He said he just wanted lead.

Well that's a start but you don't count on Dyson to get a sacrifice fly. Also if he gets a basehit two runs probably don't score with the outfield playing so shallow. So if a basehit gives you one run whether Dyson or Escobar, I am putting my money on Escobar.

Yeah I understand that but sophomore slump will be the "reason" and he's expected to bounce back... which he likely will. He's already under team control for a good while anyway so it really doesn't behoove the Royals to feel too much urgency to extend him even more just yet until he proves this year is a fluke so far. Plus you know Borus is going to play the waiting game and be ready to get out of KC anyway if we don't start winning in the next couple years. He'll have bigger market, more money in his sights. Couldn't watch tonight, too much going on at work, but sounds like a nice win win with the typical Broxton shenanigans. Don't see them get on the good side of too many 1-0 games.

And it's too late to play that game with Hosmer. He's gotten his batting average up more than 20 points in the last 10 days, and his ops up more than 50. He looks like he's gotten locked back in, and has been as much a part of the winning lately as anybody. He'll probably be over .230 by the all star break and climbing his way steadily towards the .260s by the season's end.

Hoch is probably at a similar place as he was last year. He didn't get geared up until the All Star Break if I remember correctly

Wouldn't mind seeing him repeat his second half.

If the Royals are dead and buried, we'll see the best of Hoch; he's a ****ing mental midget who should be released so he doesn't infect the young talent on this team.

And there's at least a part of me that believes that his release would send a valuable message about expectations and approach.

I certainly don't disagree with that. I also understand it's tough for a team, already short on pitching, to cut bait with a former #1 draft choice who's still young. You keep hoping. He's the Royals Matt Cassel. I would really hope that if he doesn't turn it around this year that it would be his last.

No, you're right about the pitching shortage; I'll be shocked if Hoch isn't in the rotation all year for pretty much any reason.

I wondered when someone was going to say this, heh.

It's really a tough spot to be in being wrong on a #1 pick. You know the powers that be cringe 10x harder than we do when he blows another.

He had a few bad outings last year, but pitched some good ball. Even has playoff experience. Plus I still gotta root for the injured dudes that try to make comebacks. Compared to running Smith/Mazzaro or Sanchez out there I don't think it would be that bad of a pickup at this point and time

It seems maybe Mazzaro has maybe turned a corner the last couple starts? Hope so. Sadly I'd probably trust Francis as much or more than Smith, Sanchez or Hoch. He can be had cheap I guess. Yay.

Looked to me like his last couple starts have been pretty decent but I don't usually get to watch the games so I don't have much of an eyeball test.

Yep, and much better than any single pitcher we have in the minors right now besides Odorizzi.
