Welcome to the first ever Selected Best Things in Life Poll. In this round you must pit your favorite musical act vs. your favorite actor. Which has made your life richer? For actors, consider all the movies that they starred in as disappearing if you vote against them.

My favorite 869 musicians have made my life richer than any actor.

The early exit polls are all in agreement. Seriously, screw the movies. Can you imagine a world without a song like Stairway to Heaven? Or, because I'm a Rush fan and I know there are at least a few on this site, Tom Sawyer or Working Man?

Easier than I can imagine a world w/o the Godfather, but it looks like I am in the minority.

I didn't care for The Godfather. I found that it insisted upon itself.

Taking music away would be like never getting to eat food, it feeds the soul.

No actor can trump Pink Floyd. I don't care how damn good he or she is.

Actors get in front of a camera and play make-believe. Musicians dig deep into your soul.

It's not even a contest.

I hope the three people against music are trolling. I have eargasms listening to really good music. For example:

The Floyd is likely what kept me out of prison as a teen.

No matter how mad I was I could dial up some Dark Side, some of The Wall, some Wish You Were Here.

I'd put on the headphones and drown out to the the Floyd on the waterbed.

I miss my heated waterbed...

I'm a trained, professional (at times) actor who spends an unhealthy amount of time watching movies and television.

Even for me, it's musician and it isn't even close. A single actor doesn't have the ability to affect you on such a pervasive, emotional level as music. A great actor can be amazing, but favorite songs cater to your moods and are tied to some of your best memories. Musician by a mile.

No idea how people could chose movies over music.

I rarely listen to music, and about 95% of the time, when I do listen to music, have no idea who the artist that is performing the music.

The fact is, I don't give a rat's ass about music in general, and the crap that people listen to these days is just fucking noise and irritates the hell out of me.

This would be a far more interesting decision if it were favorite filmmaker rather than favorite actor.

This I agree with. It would still be a hard sell, but a much better argument could be made.

You might remember a favorite movie scene occassionally, but music stays with you all day. I'm listening to In Dreams right now and I don't even have music on.

lets face it, music makes the movie!...its what pulls the emotions and drives you to feel a part of the scenes....If I had to choose between one or the other music would win hands down....I would rephrase this into 2 different categories, favorite artist and favorite actor.

I disagree. I find film scoring to often be emotionally manipulative, forcing me to feel audiences a certain way about a scene. Films that only use diagetic music are quite compelling for me.

Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't. Let's not forget here, that the question is 1 favorite musician vs. 1 favorite actor. Not music versus acting.
