This is a whole new level of stupid, regardless of your political beliefs, get ready to laugh.

Remember Thaddeus McCotter, that weirdo congressman who briefly ran for president? His re-election campaign forgot to gather the 1,000 signatures needed to get on the primary ballot for his house seat.

McCotter departure shakes up GOP race (http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120604/POLITICS02/206040328/McCotter-departure-shakes-up-GOP-race?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|p)

This dude was a veteran 5-term GOP congressman running for re-election in a district that was just re-drawn for his benefit to be one of the only safe GOP districts in MI for the next decade.

The dems, who weren't bothering to seriously contest this race, are now examining whether this safe GOP seat is now winnable, because no other serious republican got on the primary ballot either (thinking McCotter had it handled). The only republican on the ballot is a strange unknown tea partier who raises reindeer, has no money, has never run for anything, and who plays santa claus. The GOP is thinking about trying to mount a write-in campaign for the primary to salvage this disaster. Even if they manage to do that, it'll take a ton of money and resources better spent elsewhere, dumped into that district to educate the voters how to write-in the preferred candidate for the primary.

Some of McCotter's speeches were pretty entertaining. But yeah, that's pretty dumb.

There's a good liberty candidate running for that seat.
