Minnesota offered Derrick Williams to the Bobcats for the No. 2 overall pick in hopes of helping to acquire Gasol.

If we offered Derrick Williams to the Bobcats for their #2, why wouldn't we just take Jeremy Beal? This team needs guys who can create their own shot, not more rebounders.

Rubio already is one of the best passing guards in the league. Imagine the dishes to a lethal 2-guard that he could create. Oh, and THEN teams have to deal with Love and Pekovic down low.

Instead we're fucking around with Gasol just so we can defend a little better?

Admittedly, Derrick Williams was an example of not communicating or having a plan. Kahn made the pick when Rambis was still the coach. Then Adelman was hired AFTER the draft and was told to make a lanky yet extremely athletic PF who doesn't have much of a jumpshot play at the SF spot. Adelman's teams don't jive very well with oversized guys at the 3 who can't shoot. So there we were, putting Williams on the bench in relief of Love. That rotation was brilliant for a stretch until injury problems fucked over our season.

If our coach were already in place by that point, I doubt Adelman would have wanted Williams and would have instead traded the pick away for a higher market value to get a player already in the league that he likes.
