View Full Version : Football Backups who you would start over Kasl?

Hell... Thiggy may be available now that T-Jack is headed to NY. I always liked Thiggy and never thought he should have been released. In fact, I would start him over Kasl (as well as Quinn & Stanzi) week 1 of this season.

What backups around the league would you start over Kasl and co.?

Thiggy (my QB man crush)
Orton
Leftwich
Hasselbeck
Grossman (not much better than Kasl but he has at least lead a team to the promised land)
Flynn

Why did I start this thread? Because **** you. That's why.

Then we run routes 8+ yards and longer. Fuck... I would take a football implanted into Hillis' chest on a check down over the consistently short passes on anything less than 15 yards out and a complete inability to throw deep.

The real question is how long it Cassell going to survive this year? If the past two preseason games is a sample of what we are going to get the Chiefs will be 0-3 with the Chargers coming to town. The red faithful will bury Cassell with boos.

I really think he will perform better than he has so far. First we are not going to throw it 50 times a game from shotgun formation. We are going to pound the run and using play action......aren't we?

Matt Moore?

This. Well, and many more...but he would be ideal, IMO.

I have stated it probably 20 times on this board... why doesn't this guy get any respect? He excelled in Daboll's offense last year when he came in. Can someone please explain to me why he receives such a lack of respect? I mean, the Dolphins fans were in a freaking frenzy in the offseason about the lack of the QB position being addressed (until Tannehill). What was so bad about the way Moore performed the last half of last season? Someone please explain because I don't understand it. I would take Moore over Cassel ANY second of any minute of any hour of any day of any week of any month of any year of any decade of any century of any millenium.

I don't understand the general lack of respect for Moore and definitely don't understand the big deal about the "randomly ordained #3 QB prospect after Barkley stated he was going back to USC," Ryan Tannehill. I don't understand how the QB situation in Miami was generally perceived by most people as being worse than Kansas City.

Ugh.

Ryan Mallett

When I have watched him this year, he has laid some major eggs. Looked very Ryan Leaf-ish. I didn't see the 3rd preseason game and have no idea how he looked in that one, but I saw bits and pieces of the first 2 Patriot preseason games and he looks like garbage to me. I admit, I may be missing something....I have no idea how game #3 went, and did miss a drive here and there while he was playing in #1 and #2....but when I did see him, he sucked total ass.

i'd honestly think I'd start every other starting QB in the league and most rookie backups on this Chiefs team over Cassel at this point.

Yes even John Skelton and Blaine Gabbert

I just feel Cassel is wasting the prime talent of most of our positional players at this point and it is a damn shame. By the time we get a good QB at this rate most of our talent will be pass their prime if we stay the course with Cassel, in terms of our bad luck with a guy like Cassel to always find a way to buy himself another year of excuses on this team, injury, coaching change, lack of talent, no consistency at offensive coordinator, etc. The guy has every excuse going for him in his defense to prolong his career here and it honestly sucks as a fan.

I wouldn't be so hot on Gabbert but I'm laughing because it is the absolute truth. Kasl wouldn't start for any of the other 31 teams and I'm not convinced he even makes the roster at all on half of them.

Shit... I honestly and truthfully believe that Thigpen would give us a better chance than Kasl. In fact, in 08, Thigpen averaged (slightly) more total yards per game than Kasl did in his banner year.

Exactly my feeling.

At least it would show they're not tied to Cassel. Plus if the guy sucks, you draft a legit QB prospect very early in the first round next year.

That's why, even though I'm pretty well convinced he sucks worse than Cassel, I'd still sink or swim with Stanzi.

There isn't a back up that could come in and start over Cassel right now and the only guy worth trading for was Jackson imo. However, I would like to add a vet in case he struggles in the regular season. Maybe Garrard or Moore will get cut? Thigpen would be a great option. John Parker Wilson just got cut by Atlanta and he has been decent. He's light years ahead of Stanzi.

I was thinking the same thing. 16 and 9. 60% completions 87 QB rating in 13 games.
