Progress With Brandon Flowers' Injury?

We may have some potential progress with Brandon Flowers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34470/brandon-flowers) and his injured heel. Today marks four weeks since Flowers went down with an injury at the Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/kansas-city-chiefs) training camp night practice.

As noted yesterday, Flowers is out of the walking boot. The KC Star's Adam Teicher brings more good news: Flowers did some slow jogging and "cutting and back pedaling" at practice today, which seems to be a step in the right direction. Teicher is fielding Flowers questions on Twitter if you wanna check it out. (https://twitter.com/adamteicher)

Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel indicated this week that Flowers isn't expected to play on Thursday night in the preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/green-bay-packers). That would mean Flowers will miss all the preseason games.

Flowers needs to participate in a practice before the Chiefs can even start thinking about him playing. KC will play on Thursday and get back to work this weekend. They'll have all of next week to practice and prepare for Atlanta before Sunday's game.

Will that be enough time for Flowers to A.) heal and B.) get in at least some practice before the game? We're all just guessing at this point...

Routt MIGHT have been a problem if playing as our no.1 CB but he sure is no problem as a no.2 CB. Even Raiders fans would probably admit he is at least an average no.2 CB.

Routt is NOT the problem. Having any scenario that forces us to play Jalil Brown anywhere on the field other than 4th or 5th CB is the REAL problem. Potential lingering injuries to Flowers and Travis Daniels COULD be the problem. Hopefully both or one of them can stay healthy and keep that turd Brown far away from the field as possible, because he's awful.

Routt did some stupid shit against Seattle. A lot of it he didn't get called for but should have.

I hope he does learn when he's here. It's not all coaching. Sometimes players never translate technique to actual gameplay. It's tough. Very tough. Hell, Bartee had dozens of problems, but one thing he could have fixed fairly easily was turning his fucking head around to look for the ball. He never did master that skill.

I'll bet that when Flowers comes back, Routt will be solid for us. Of the concerning holes and problems this team will have, he'll be the least of them.

the only CB that looks like true dog shit is Jalil Brown. absolutely awful in every facet of the game. Just straight lost out there and blatant blown coverages because it looks like he has no fucking clue what he's doing

Also Jacques Reeves doesnt count and might be the worst player on the team.

Brown hasn't been as bad as people say. The catches on him against Seattle were tough catches and good throws where he was in pretty good position.

The worst play all pre-season by a corner was the pass interference/TD catch on Arenas in the Rams game.

I think Routt will be alright as the #2, but I have to agree with SNR that he has some bad habits to break...like when he just stiff armed the Seattle receiver 10 yards down the field. That was just dumb and unnecessary.

I was really excited about Brown coming into the preseason. Dude was just in no way ready for that level of competition. At one point, I thought it was actually counterproductive for the Seahawks. It's like, "yeah, you can beat that guy. maybe try to test other aspects of your offense."

ya, that's the bottom line with this team, Bone. You can't expect these DB's to just run around covering players until the ball comes out, which has been the problem here since JA left. They go up and down. Rinse and repeat.

He had one good drive against the Seahawks, but was otherwise bad. He threw very high the entire first quarter. His fumble showed a general unawareness and his pick was classic Cassel panic.

I was never able to watch the Seahawks game. Was Brown on the #1 receiver the entire game? I remember reading the game thread and a few posters made it sound like he was giving too much of a cushion and that he did much better when playing press or a bit closer to the receiver.

He did throw high but the passes were catchable nonetheless. The fumble I don't know if it was unaware or trusting your line to block as it did come from behind. Although he shouldn't leave the ball hanging out there like that.

All I know is, in the 3rd preseason game, which is supposed to be as close to "real" as the preseason gets--I saw the exact same Matt Cassel that I saw last year. He just never, ever looks downfield. Other pro teams make passing downfield look so effortless that it's really frustrating that we're stuck with one of the few QB's in the league who doesn't even have the confidence to try it.

JohnnyHammersticks

In terms of Flowers, knowing how quickly elite athletes lose their edge when it comes to being in tip top shape, I can't imagine how someone who's been in a walking boot for the last 3 or 4 weeks is going to be in anywhere near good enough shape to play CB in the NFL in less than 2 weeks.

Of course, even if he had to play while wearing the walking boot, he'd still be better than Jalil Brown.
