Chen gives up a leadoff double, but works around it

That sidearm pitch won't work past the first time through the order if not past the first inning.

If they aren't going to call up Myers, then Dyson is the guy, at least right now, who should be lead off and starting from now on. Frenchy's ass should be on the bench.

I had this big shit-eating grin watching the replay there. I always get a kick out of watching players smile and laugh at the dumb crap that goes on during a game.

Yost, are you fucking serious? You are going to cost us ANOTHER game with your ridiculous mismanagement of the pen, you tard.

Why does Yost love leaving Chen in so long? There's no need for this.

Nightfyre

Fire Yost today, in the post-game conference. We are probably .500 with a legit manager. Jesus Christ.

I'll just post this now and save myself the wait.

Must be showcasing Chen as our NUMBER 1 PITCHER for 2013

What?

No, we're not .500. And we can't Vermeil-style the 12-game losing streak, which occurred because of poor roster management, not because of "bad luck."

After this many years, I cannot fathom how Royals fans can put any belief in what happens in a pointless August/September.

Fire Yost. Don't fire Yost. Whatever. He's on watch.

Get a fucking GM who isn't a moron, and then we can worry about the smaller details. (An owner willing to spend money wouldn't hurt, either.)

Nightfyre

I guarantee there are at least seven occasions when Yost's bullpen management has cost us a game.

66-66.

You're basically arguing that Yost is beyond imagination incompetent as a manager, since most stat guys would say that managers can influence 3-5 games per year.

Yost isn't Hillman-bad. Not close.

The GM is what matters. Everything else (assuming ownership provides reasonable resources) is ancillary.

Bullpen management is a crucial way a manager can COST his team games. There may not be a big difference between a good and an average bullpen manager, but between average and below average, you are talking about a lot of potential games. A flaw in your assumptions, mr. Deez.

Not really because managing the pen is almost the only game-day decision that an AL manager makes.

Lineup card. Eh. Not overly important. Bat best hitters 1-3.
Set defense. Should be clear.
Don't bunt until 7th+ inning.
Manage pen.

So you're saying improper management of the pen cannot cost a team games?
Because I can remember several occasions where I was cursing Ned for ignoring the obvious and the pitcher getting blasted.

No doubt. He's had 2 really nice catches in center the last couple of games. Another 3 or 4 and he'll be close to making up for his atrocious play earlier this year

Yeah man, you too. I sometimes have to watch the game on my phone and don't get to post until it's over. Let's say we sweep these Tigers for the fun of it.
