costochondritis (sp?) (inflammation of rib cage cartilage)...I have had this twice also, it fucking sucks.......rest/anti inflammitory.....it might be possible it is a bacterial infection if it is really bad.......

google it, i bet its what you got

I've had this also, but mine was upper, middle shooting pain to the left. I hurt it while on the job, went to the doctor and he said no lifting or straining, the boss said keep doing physical stuff...I quit.

yep, that is a possible solution. Also, hit 400mg ibuprofen every so often to reduce inflammation.
