Well not exactly. I'm suggesting he took a little more money and the 'Dallas' fame to go to a place he KNEW he didn't have a shot at starting.

He couldve stuck around in less glamorous KC and actually had a chance to beat Cassel either in the off season or during the season......

I'm saying he took the pussy way out. Not that we even wanted him here....but he would probably be better than Quinn.

I'm just saying the one kid was riding his nuts saying we forced him out or something when he could've stuck around and fought for a job...instead of going somewhere where injury is the only chance.

It has just been so long, it is nice to see a center get the job done.

I really think this goes beyond just the difference at the center and guard positions.

I think Hudson in vacuum, man on man, is better than Lilja, and Allen in a vacuum, man on man, is better than Lilja.

But we saw a more cohesive group because of Lilja's experience and his ability to make the proper line calls as a result.

Do you recall an interview with Orton that he said?: "This is Cassel's team" almost sheepishly and embarrassed.
I took that as he had been given the word by Piloli, that he was not getting the starting job.
I might have read it wrong, but it seemed pretty obvious to me that Orton was told he had no chance. I was pissed to, because I was actually on the Orton bandwagon knowing that he was the best option.

Oh I fully expect the Charger's front seven to harass Cassel all day. I'm just hoping that Charles can get started early to at least keep us in it......for a while.I hope so as well, but for Charles to be successful we need some decent O-line play.

Maybe he was trying to help Cassel out by not going with the exact same cadence/snap rhythm all the time.

Was that the time when they actually caught too many D players on the field?
I was trying to give credit to Cassel for that, and was shocked, but maybe it was Lilja?

Additionally, the team has signed offensive guard Russ Hochstein and center Bryan Mattison.

He played defensive line and linebacker at Cedar Catholic High School in Hartington, Neb.

This is why I don't believe in the learning from the bench process for O-Linemen.

Let these guys learn on the job from the get go, so that you have a group that is gelling and on the same page as soon as possible.

Exactly.

Asamoah was as good or better than Lilja in 2010, yet Lilja started every game when healthy. Same for Hudson in 2011 and they did the same with Jeff Allen in 2012.

I stated that Allen would be the starter by game four but I hoped it wasn't due to injury, especially to Hudson. Oh well...

Dexter McCluster injury update: not all bad news for Chiefs WR

Dexter McCluster injury update isn't bad news (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2012/9/26/3412636/dexter-mccluster-injury-update-practice/in/3170023)

The news on Dexter McCluster (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/109122/dexter-mccluster) and his injury are in and it's encouraging. KC Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/kansas-city-chiefs) head coach Romeo Crennel said on Wednesday that McCluster would be limited in practice, which is a good sign considering how nasty his injury looked.

By placing him limited, it suggests McCluster has a shot to play this weekend against the San Diego Chargers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/san-diego-chargers).

"Dexter has got an elbow and he'll be out there," Crennel said, via comments sent out by the Chiefs, "and he's going to be limited. We will not contact him. We're not going to have contact today anyway because they're not putting on pads today, but he'll be out there trying to see what he can do."

When you couple this with McCluster saying on Facebook earlier in the week that he's "feeling good" then I think you have to be encouraged. I was worried this would be a season-ending situation but it's not.
We'll have a better idea of McCluster's status later in the week but if I had to guess now he'll be limited every day and then questionable on Friday. We'll see what the Chiefs decide to do with him.

That's a great point, and I'm sure that could have contributed. I still think that Lilja and Hudson are both undersized interior linemen, and that having Allen's significant upgrade with strength/size was more key to the improved line play than Lilja changing positions. Allen coming in would have been an improvement regardless of Hudson or Lilja at center.

just watched Lilja do a fine job of blocking at Center during the 91 yrd TD run.

Lilja chipped the NT to help asomoah to complete his reach block and then he moved up to the next tier and completely sealed off the MLB.

Albert and Moeaki did a fine job too ... especially Albert who probably had the hardest block to make.

Allen was strong and didn't allow penetration at LG.

i don't think we're watching the same Team.

You're just watching with foggy suck goggles. We have the number one offense in the nfl and a d with unlimited potential.

Exactly. If we can just put the 1st half Atlanta offense together with the 2nd half Saints defense, we'll be unstoppable. It's really that simple.

I don't see how we come short of 12-4. This is a good team that is coming together.

4 good quarters in 3 games

I don't know ... maybe it's time we took off the foggy suck spectacles and realized that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a laser sight after all. Maybe it's the morning sun reflecting off the sterling silver patina of the Lombardi trophy.

After all, we have a win under our belts, a 91-yard touchdown run, some sack deals, and a few first downs. Assuming we get a couple of bounces to go our way, this could be our year.

I have to say this. What Houston did on Sunday is going to make the d better. I am optimistic that they will think twice before loading up on Hali.

are you stupid enough to think Pioli even considered offering Orton a shot at competing with Cassel as the starter here?

if anything he offered Orton a spot at Backing up his boy Cassel and Orton said no thanks, i'd rather backup Romo.

That's the 100% truth and everyone knows it!!!!!

We have the 3rd ranked pass blocking OL and the 5th ranked run blocking OL.

even an average QB should be able to exploit defenses with that kind of protection...such a god damn waste
