I can't recall the Chiefs ever having a war drum on the sideline.

Is it from the '70's?

Yes, they had a big drum at old Municipal Stadium. The cheerleaders would gather round it in a semi circle and pound on it. I don't think it made the move into the new stadium. It disappeared. They did bring Bob Johnson and Warpaint the horse to Arrowhead, but Warpaint kept slipping on the astroturf, and they deemed it unsafe to ride him. Just in the last two years they brought Warpaint back with a hot buxom blonde chick on top (which daddy likey very much) but no big war drum. They do have a drum line, which usually hangs out up in the nosebleed section at the very top of the press box.

They did have a big drum at old Muni but I don't recall it ever being at Arrowhead, other than in that picture.

Hope it doesn't sound like the drum the in Cleveland where the Indians play. Fucking drum drives me crazy when the Royals play a game there

The one at Municipal sat upright with the skins on the left and right side, and was on a little wagon with four wheels to pull it around the field. Then they could tilt it back at a 45 degree angle if they chose to do so. It was also sponsored by BC Christopher, which was a bank or investment company back in the 1960s.

Yeah it's new for this year. I saw it at the Falcons game.

It may have been around years ago, but it's something new now.

I REMEMBER that! Keep them coming so I can test my memory...

Never went to a football game there, but I remember Campy Campaneris and the wabbit behind home plate

From the article: "In 1964, the Chiefs introduced an 8-foot-tall drum for gameday entertainment at Arrowhead Stadium. At the time, the instrument was believed to be the world’s largest tom-tom, at least according to Chiefs lore. "
