Scott Pioli showing no signs of stress did his TV interview with me today in jeans, t-shirt & flip flops. Talks about fans, QB & coach at 10

The interview is coming up on KSHB in a few minutes.

Does anyone else think Pioli should keep his job after all these interviews?

Not a chance.

I was bamboozled by this bald fuck for 3 years and genuinely believed he would replace Cassel when he talked about bringing in legit competition...and how they were gonna interview playoff coaches.

He lied to us and proceeded to push all his chips in on Cassel.

When you go all in and lose, you get up and walk away from the table.

the thing that pisses me off with this guy is, he hasn't shown his face in I don't know how long; now all of a sudden - completely out of the blue - he starts making a media blitz.

something prompted this. either the banner, the fan uproar, Clark telling him to "cool the fire" etc.

otherwise, he wouldn't have said shit until Draft day (because he's not going anywhere IMO)

Dude has probably gotten 2 or 3 more chances than he should have.

To be honest, I think he has been given a fair shake.

Considering the injuries last year, firing him would have been premature.

But as soon as he hired Crennel and let Cassel exist like a franchise QB for another year, I said to myself "Fuck this guy. This is not going to work."

And it hasn't, it won't, and now he needs to get the fuck out.

Dane should admit that he thought the Chiefs were awesome WELL before preseason.

This post is dated 7-21.

Dane was full homer for about a month after this. And if you read this post, he was all on board with Romeo Crennel, which means he was full homer all offseason.

Nope. Dane does not get to pound his chest about anything Pioli related...he loved this team...thought it was awesome...which means he approved of the job Scott Pioli did.

What really stood out to me this past season was the enormous change in preparedness, intensity and professionalism when Romeo Crennel and Kyle Orton took over the team.

The team was focused and determined, something I hadn't seen from a Chiefs team since early 2010, especially the offense. Even with a severely depleted roster, Crennel was somehow able to get more out of this team than Todd Haley did in the three plus years he served as head coach.

I could be completely off-base and it's way, way too early to make any kind of solid prediction, especially because no one knows how Berry, Charles and Moeaki will respond to their off-season surgeries, but I am very optimistic about the 2012 season.

7-9 would be a major disappointment, IMO. If this team is healthy, I think a playoff win is likely, even with Cassel at the helm. They're just loaded at talent at nearly every position and young players like Allen, Poe and Menzie may surpass the veterans ahead of them earlier than some might expect.

And the defense could be special.

Dane you have been exposed as a big Chiefs homer...stop pounding your chest....you keep doing it in every other thread and I AM CALLING YOU ON IT.

More proof that you're a fucking stupid idiot.

So, the national media, including Sports Illustrated, agreed that the moves the Chiefs made in 2012 offseason, along with a 2-1 record when Crennel took over, were reason to expect a disappointing 2012 season?

Huh?

On paper, the Chiefs finally upgraded their right tackle position, addressed depth at safety, signed a backup QB not named Huard or Croyle, added running back depth in Hillis and Gray (through the draft), added depth to the offensive line, added a TRUE 3-4 nose tackle, and every Chiefs fan is supposed to EXPECT that this team would take a major step BACKWARD?

You've been on the wrong side of every argument going back 8+ years. You've been banned on multiple occasions, you've changed your name more times that I can count and you've never been right about anything. And NOW, I'm supposed to take you seriously?

What the fuck are you talking about?

Being optimistic about the upcoming season doesn't make someone a "Homer", Dumbass.

If I, or anyone else, had continued to beat that drum AFTER the Chiefs played in preseason, the first game, etc., that would be different.

I entered this season believing that the team had been upgraded and IF so, they could win 12 games. Obviously, the team took a major step backward and is headed on a downward spiral not seen in Kansas City since 1988.

But if you're going to tell me that I can't be optimistic about the Chiefs after some nice offseasons acquisitions and a nice finish to a horrible 2012, I'd tell you to go fuck yourself.

That depends on what you mean by hate. I've basically ALWAYS hated his face. It's always looked perfect for a frying pan. I've pretty much hated his love for Cassel since after the 2010 season. I've actually liked his contract negotiating skills. I figured I'd give his drafts some time, but they aren't looking good at all at this point.

I'd say I haven't really started to absolutely loathe the fucker since pretty recently.

I can understand to some extent the desire not to just call people out when they have a tough stretch. The negativity won't necessarily turn things around. But when you've got a guy as consistently bad as Cassel, you absolutely have to acknowledge it. Does accountability mean nothing? Players need to know that they will be accountable, enough of this coddling crap.

I'm starting to think Cassel has photographs of Pioli dressed in a sheep costume with a ball gag in his mouth, taking it in the ass from Giorgio Tsoukalos or something. It would also explain why Pioli is so paranoid about everything. He has to bug everyone's phone and office...you know...so he can find out "who knows what".

No GM is going to throw a player or coach under the bus.

I don't know what the hell you want him to say, but show me an example of what's actually been done.

Plus the questions suck.

No question about us running Charles into the ground because we can't pass

I also think its hard for him to say he expects more from player X or coach y when his record is so bad.

How silly is it to call the consensus "homers"?

11 of 16 NNFL.com analysts picked KC to win the west and 13 of 16 picked us to go to the playoffs.

Kudos for going against the grain and being right about it, but that doesnt mean you get to go around calling the rest of the world homers...

It's fucking stupid.

The term "homer" should be reserved for those people that support, unabashedly, their team through the worst of time.

By the way, does anyone know what it means when a GM says he needs to prepare for each game, one at a time? Pioli denied any involvement in game-day player activation and denied involvement in game-planning so what is it that Pioli hopes to accomplish before the Raider game?

I think he is gonna try to get a QB. I wouldn't be surprised for a second to see them sign David Garrard tomorrow.

As to the previous post...most thought that Cassel could improve JUST ENOUGH to be what he was in 2010 and with that mixed with the rest of this roster (on paper) we could make some noise.

I dont think many expected Cassel to be THIS BAD...when your quarterback is totally inept and turns the ball over about 3 times a game, to boot, you are gonna get blown out with consistency.

Add to that the foot problems for Flowers, DJ having a HAS, Romeo reverting to his passive schemes, Berry and Moeaki playing well under expectations and Dorsey going down and this teams hopes got flushed quick.

For the record, I am not calling anyone names nor trying to be combative... I am genuinely vexed how anyone could be optimistic about Crennel/Cassel team.

Thats a fair point... cassel was a known headache, Crennel had come over as HC from a loser, but had also piecemealed a good D together & won a few big games in convincing fashion.

With the on paper talent, everyone had a right to expect and foresee something better, how much better is up for debate, but still better, playoff better, QB be damned... our awesome, historically due, undeniable momentum couldnt be forsaken.

I digress, time for bed, stay tuned senor borracho.

Typical Pioli. He wants to back away from the Cassel issue, but isn't man enough to admit Matt sucks, or even "Matt's gotta fucking play better. He's accountable to everyone." Instead, now Matt is the COACHES' problem. Like he suddenly expects us to believe that one day he decided to trade for Matt Cassel, and then told him coaches, "Hey guys... let me know if this works. If not, just shoot me an e-mail and I'll try to find a better solution."

What a fucking pussy.

When the consensus is that the team would win the AFCW...the PESSIMISTS are the only ones calling for a downward spiral type year.

A lot of people thought the Chiefs would be competitive this year.
A lot of us thought Pioli was a great hire. I personally loved it.
A lot of us liked the Cassel trade. I still like it, even if they were flat out wrong.

I agree with you. It's silly to single anybody out for things the consensus believed. Most of us have been united in realizing how bad Cassel is, how bad Pioli was after Arrowhead Anxiety was published, and how bad he is now.

I finally had time to watch all the web version. Pioli dropped some serious tells in this interview. I can't tell if he got his extension or not, but I think it's pretty obvious Clark sent Pioli a very clear message. I want to believe there was a "fix it" or pack your bags discussion, with nothing signed yet.

You're not the only one. I wanted to reach though the screen and squeezing his ****ing head off when he said that shit.

Not choosing to single you out. Just reading the bolded part caused a deja vu flash back to some point in this last off-season... or maybe after Haley was let go... and recall that Pioli had a whirlwind media day like this including an interview with Harry. And IIRC, most of us at that time said very nearly the identical statement that I have bolded in your post.

So this would be the 2nd time that most of us would say that Hunt has directed Pioli to do some damage control or else.

For example, was there a single person who hated the Glenn Dorsey pick in 2008? Granted, there was so much more to get excited about in the 2008 draft, but I think everybody who saw Matt Ryan get snatched up was wishing and hoping hard on Glenn Dorsey being there at 5.

I admit, I was happy about Dorsey. He was being mentioned as the best DL since Warren Sapp... and could've been picked #1 overall. When he slid to #5 it was like candy. Are we utilizing him wrong? I guess, I'm more offensive minded...

But I don't recall 610 asking if Pioli is married to the QB and the rather strong line of questioning about Cassel.

bringing in Cassel in 2009 wasn't a bad move at the time. (giving him 63 mil was).

BUT... after watching him play a season and noticing his weaknesses should've brought realization that you cannot win in the playoffs anymore with a game manager piece of shit QB who stares down receivers and cannot go through progressions.

At that point, you MAYBE try and fix him mentally and if not then get rid of him....
NOT build around him and come up with a gameplan of "just take care of the ball and don't turn it over" mentality.
That shit worked for 2 teams in the past few decades.... and I only see it working one more time possibly (Alex Smith).

I thought he looked alright, but he just had Elvis Grbac-type dipshit written all over him. I was NOT in the mood to even fuck around with other teams' backup QBs. When we made the trade, I said I would have been fine with it if we had also drafted Sanchez and let the guy sit for a year or two while Cassel takes control of the shitwagon. I was VERY disappointed. Clark did that PR thing prior to hiring Pioli about drafting our own franchise QB. I finally thought this franchise had moved on to join the rest of the league. After listening to the 810, 610 and reading the Star interview, I was pleasantly surprised by the stepped up tone and Cassel questions with Jack Harry.

More proof that you're a ****ing stupid idiot.
