View Full Version : Chiefs Scott Pioli's PFF rating

Count Alex's Losses

If you could give Scott Pioli a PFF rating, how would you go about it?

Since the NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" league, let's tally up the latest ratings of all the players he's drafted, or acquired in free agency.

If the player is no longer a Chief, or no longer in the NFL, we'll use their last known rating. Players with negligible snaps are excluded (Colin Brown, Quinten Lawrence, Jalil Brown, Cyrus Gray, etc).

Dontari Poe is only .5 difference grade from Tyson Jackson.

Poe was drafted 15th, its only his 6th game
Tyson Jackson was drafted 3rd overall, it's his 4th season

That's fucking depressing in the case of a 3rd overall pick which should have been a foundation piece/cant fuck up draft pick.

That's the problem with most of these guys. They are JUST A GUY. They dont improve, they have no impact, there is no potential. It's all propaganda.

I know this took a lot of work to put together, but I have trouble saying this is conclusive evidence that the guy sucks since a majority of players drafted don't end up doing much in the league. My hypothesis would be that most GMs have a negative rating on average, but I don't know that for sure. Would it be possible to find someone else to compare/contrast with?

I am actually surprised guys like Travis Daniels, Copper lasted as long as they did. Well I guess when Jake O Connell is still on the 53 man roster 4 years in, anyone turd can make Piolis team as long as you dont have actual playmaking talent

That's the giant red turd in the turd pile, right there. The absence of a true impact guy is telling.

Especially considering the guys we ignored in the draft ... like Clay Mathews, for example ... 3 time pro-bowler already, 2010 NFC Defensive Player of the Year, Butkus Award winner, Sporting News NFL Defensive Player of the Year, etc. Or Raji. That's the kind of thing that tickles my testicles though, Mr. Sorter. I mean, if Pioligo is as brilliant as he claims (given his past statements regarding the "building" of the Patriots and all), one would think he wouldn't have let Mathews slip to 29 and, instead, negotiated one of his fabulous draft day trades or something.

But, of course, you're right about the rest. Honestly, he could have shot a ping-pong ball from his anus into a goldfish bowl full of consensus, first round prospects and done better in that particular draft.

That is not the kind of performance one expects from an NFL Executive Of The Century who earns $5 million a year.

I'm not forgiving Pioli. Forgiving the players for their PFF scores as I don't think they are truly indicative of either their true value (Breaston, Routt) or potential (Poe, Stephenson, Allen, Berry, Moeaki).

I can't blame the players for what Pioli does/selected. Moeaki during his rookie season seemed like a promising player. He clearly has struggled. However, that doesn't mean that I don't wish we had several other players instead of him.

Stephenson could develop into an OK LT. I don't mind the actual player. I do mind where he was selected relative to who was still available.

What I meant by "forgiving" Breaston is that I don't think Breaston's PFF rating is necessarily productive of the player he is. That applies to those I listed, although in the case of the younger guys, it is more aimed towards potential.

Dicky McElephant

I still think that Stephenson pick is because Pioli is planning on gutting all of the old regime's players off of this roster. Albert will have the same "contract issues" that Bowe does.

Baldwin and McCluster were to replace Bowe.
Stephenson was to replace Albert.
Routt was to replace Carr.

its awfully depressing to think about Pioli pushing the old regimes talent out the door for nothing so his own guys can play.

It's not like these are 33 year old broke dick veterans. These are guys under 30 in the prime of their careers and have been the most productive and fan liked players on the team the last 4 or 5 years. The fact that he might have a plan in place to rid this team of most of them for his own whatever agenda is truly depressing as a fan

It's why he needs to go.

Dont understand why Thomas jones is rated so badly, and dont get why Winston is rated so highly.

Because Thomas Jones sucked ass, even in 2010. And especially in 2011.

Because Jones is terrible and Winston was good with the Texans...He's having issues, like everyone else, in KC... :hmmm:

PFF related Pioli ownage.

Guess who just earned defensive player of the week at PFF? A guy Pioli passed on to take Dexter McCluster....a guy who could easily play Tyson Jackson's position and probably at a higher level.

Defensive Ends: Lamarr Houston, OAK (+6.2) and Robert Quinn, SL (+4.3)

Quite the day for Houston. He picked up a quickfire sack on Eben Britton, a tackle for a loss, three more defensive stops, and of course forced the game-changing fumble.

Jeff Allen might be the worst goddamn pick Pioli has ever made.

I'm going to update this thread after the Chargers hang us by our own intestines.

But for now...

Brandon Carr gave up 511 yards and 3 TD last season.

Stanford Routt has already surrendered 491 yards and 3 TD this year.

This got me thinking.

I'd love to see a banner before the game that says "Chiefs lose by 14+ - Fire Pioli..."

We all know it will happen.

Putting it out there before the game makes the point impossible to ignore...

Travis Daniels and Javier Arenas were targeted 9 times last night.

9 completions, 127 yards, 1 TD. LMAO

Dorsey only played 18 snaps. Ropati comes in and has a -2.7 for the game. LMAO

And Tony Moeaki had another abysmal game blocking. -2.4

The hits just keep on coming.

Also...

Dexter McCluster now has 5 drops this season. Good for a drop rate of 14.71 percent, or 78th out 90 WR. Ouch.
