View Full Version : Chiefs Late night bullshit: Cassel's next team

Count Alex's Wins

Just thinking about where the Casshole will land next season.

I don't think he will accept a backup job here, nor even want to be here after the fans have buried him in dinosaur-sized piles of shit and Pioli is fired (it will happen).

Seems like most teams have their starter or a guy they're not willing to move on from at this point.

There are a couple of exceptions:

Buffalo
NYJ

Neither the Jets or Bills are sold on their starters. Fitzpatrick certainly appears to be overpaid, and Sanchez is running on fumes.

No one is going to give Cassel a starting job. But these two teams may bring him in to compete with their scrubs, and let the best man win.

Cleveland could also be a possibility, but I think they'll give Weeden another year to show what he's got.

Can't see him going anywhere else unless he decides he'll just be a backup and accept his fate as a shitty QB.

Thoughts?

Jacksonville.

This was my first thought. Someplace with a shitty enough QB that he could have a chance to start. Jacksonville, Cleveland, Buffalo... I don't see big market teams even wanting to take the chance he's forced to start for them due to an injury. Maybe a backup in StL or Arizona.

If he goes the backup route, I think Seattle might pick him up, if they can get out from under Flynn's contract.

Clark Hunt loves him some Scott Pioli. Scott Pioli loves him some Matt Cassel.

I'm sorry everybody but Matt Cassel is here for the long haul. He'll be quarterbacking our team until he is 45.

then Matt Cassel will be our QB coach forever.

I think Cassel will go to a team with the assumption that he'll be a shoe-in for a backup job; then once camp rolls around and concludes, that team will put him at 3rd string.

....furthering the conclusion that Pioli is retarded.

Back to New England. It was amazing reading Bill Simmons' column today and how the Patriots fans are starting to get on Brady for feeling phantom pressure in the pocket. Cassel will return to take the job and return the Patriots to glory.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he landed in Atlanta. Dimitroff is from the Patriots tree and sadly I'd take Cassel as a backup over Luke McCown and Dominique Davis.

Palmer will start and Leinart and Cassel will battle it out for the 2 spot.

I also think the Pats make some sense. McDaniels loves him. He knows the system. It allows them to trade Mallet for picks, and draft another guy to groom since Brady's retirement is not imminent...

Here's how it will go down. NE will showcase Mallet during the preseason quite a bit. Mystery injury to Brady or something. They will convince a team to trade a 2nd round pick for Mallet thus opening the backup role for Cassel again and the Pioli/ Bellichick troll of KC will be complete.

Cassel's a great backup. YOu don't ask your backup to be a stud, even if that's a nice luxury to have. You ask him to win games for you in a pinch. So if he's asked to sub in for 3 or 4 games, he can go .500 or better. Cassel's capable of doing that. He'll make a good backup somewhere. Just have no fucking clue why any team thinks he should be a starter, let alone after 3 years.

Look, I don't like the guy as a starting QB. But for a team looking for a veteran backup, he's a great guy to have, as long as the price tag makes sense.

pffft I can just see him retire due to a career ending " injury " He don't want none of this and he got paid good for four years of sucking. His " injury " last year kept him from having to go through the pain. Now again he is trying hard not to come back imo with his "concussion" That may not be true but to me it sure seems that way. He is going find a way out if he continues shit down his own pants, and still try to look like the victim or in his own mind hero.

Cassell is a big giant puss.

That would be cool, then all of those ballwashers can see how much he has regressed since 2008.

Either that, or Belichick can show Pioli how it's done... (once again).
