would you want to obtain if the Chiefs had to option to trade for any backup QB in the NFL. However in this scenario, the backup cannot currently be a rookie in the NFL.

I figured since it is the off-season and we are the shitty Chiefs franchise, we are destined to discussing backup QBs.

I think this would be an interesting discussion topic for this board since we know management would never go after a starting QB.

Discuss.

If I could accomplish one thing in my life it would be turning any Chiefs GM to salt who traded for a b/u QB...

Nick Foles or Matt Moore.

I'm embarrassed to say that I can't name a lot of backup quarterbacks these days. In the old days I could practically name everyone on every roster, but these days I have other things that require my ever-shrinking brain capacity.

We need to draft 3 QBs in next years draft. Geno Smith and Barkley come to mind and just for a local hero Klien as he is a tough sumbitch.

Sorry to those in the anti Pats crusade, but I'd be interested in seeing Ryan Mallet.

But this has already been addressed, we are the shitty Chiefs with shitty management. This is a very viable option that this franchise might choose. Please follow along.

probably all backups in this league would be an upgrade over what we have now. But who cares, we're drafting the top QB in the 2013 draft.

Agree with Rausch.
But I think the OP was getting at is who's backup do you like better than any of our options,
In no particular order for starters
T.J. Yates
Colin Kaepernick
Kirk Cousins
Kyle Orton
Matt Hasselbeck or Jake Locker
Matt Flynn
I am sure there is more if I dig deeper.

While a slight exaggeration a solid case can be made that a 1/3 of the league has a better backup situation than we have starting.
1/3 is a horrific number.
At worst it should be a 1/3 of the league has a better starter option..NOT backup better than our starter.

I've always been huge on Jake Locker. I've changed my mind though. He's going through the same things with the Titans he did with The Huskies. He's fragile as fuck. Great QB that can do a lot of things but he's going to get hurt. A lot. I don't think I've witnessed him go through 1 year without injury of some kind.

I predict, and have done so in multiple threads, that Pioli will trade for Mallet to replace Cassel.

Matt Moore, because he knows Daboll's system and produced in it last season.

Nobody. We might win games if we acquire a better QB.

The thought has crossed my mind and I would not be suprised to see that happen in the offseason.

Well,he has to be bad enough that he can't compete against Cassel.
You all know he will be back next year right?

One could probably get Matt Flynn for a song. Not a bad option as long as you draft a QB in round 1.

Most of these backups we pick up are in the 27 year old range.

My call out of the Chiefs trading for Mallet is far from love, just more of the same BS Pioli keeps heaping on the fans.

I've said this before, but this forum has a weird obsession with Arkansas QBs.

"Matt Jones in the 3rd" still rings in my mind
