View Full Version : Chiefs Romeo throws half of the team under the bus...

Yet another reason having him being DC and HC at the same time is a bad idea.

When asked about the tension and angst that's created when you get "kicked" on both sides of the line of scrimmage, he said (and I'm paraphrasing):

"I don't think that's accurate. I don't think we got kicked on BOTH sides of the ball. The defense played well. We made some mistakes late in the game and let them get some yards but I don't think the defense got 'kicked' at all."

cus he had like the best offense ever the past teams hes been the offensive coordinator with right? I mean look at that high scoring powerful juggernot cleveland team he coached. WOW. I mean thats how you get offensive coordinator jobs right? Being really good and your team having success right?

I wish my company hired like pioli does. I'd be the CFO today. Any good chief financial officer experience worth noting to me before I hire you anyway? Uhh Yeah once I owned a lemonaid stand when I was 5 and I made 25 dollars in quarters! And one time I bought a 30 pack of budlight because it was on sale! Pioli- Oh thats perfect. Yeah youre hired!

Singling out the offense is bush league.

The defense has definately not played to billing, but the team is allowing TWELVE points a game off turnovers alone. Most of those caused opponents to have amazing field position. That's crazy.

Bingo.

The offense is wearing the fuck out of the defense. After that fumble on the 1st play of the 3rd quarter you could tell the defense was deflated.

Hey thanks for giving them the ball on the 20 again and not giving us any relief.

They allow 6 points going into the half without that goofed punt. That's a good effort. The 2nd half starts with a muffed snap deep in their own territory. It's a fucking travesty.

Do I have to break down what this D has done (or failed to do) in the first quarter of games this year? They start pissing down their legs just as quickly as the offense does. Don't start making excuses for the D, because they come out of the tunnel failing.

So you get my point?

I mean, that's what is REALLY wrong with this team.

The losing, on the field, is a by-product of the environment.

People say that the candy wrapper stuff doesn't matter. They don't care that the media has to have escorts to take a leak. When Romeo says stuff like this, it's just "coach speak" or "what should he have said".

When it comes down to it, all of the above are SYMPTOMS. Indicators of a front office that is self-absorbed, paranoid, and capable of disparaging ANYBODY, including their friends, if that's what it takes.

It's no wonder they are losing. They're LOSERS.

well, the offense has given the Defense very very short fields. I wonder how many of the points came because turnovers for a very short field for the opponent.

The oppposing offense usually doesnt have a very big field. I know they have fumbled and intercepted quite a few times deep in their own side of the field.

But this whole team does blow right now. They just arent playing hard for gramps

Yea, the defense just gave up 26 points to a team that was at or near the bottom in every offensive statistic. The fact is, the raiders were a two win team going into week seven...we still lost by two scores.

Our best players (who are actually pretty damn good players) are from the Herm era. Bowe, Charles, Hali, Flowers, and Albert were all left overs from the herm era. I'm not saying herm was a great coach, but we haven't exactly struck gold in the draft under Mr. Patriot Genius. This is one area Herm excelled at. I would be open to herm returning as possibly a scout. I've even heard his name thrown around as a possible GM...Take from that what you will.

Yep, the defense gets the raw deal more often than not. Think about it...

The defense intercepted the first pass of the game. The offense went three and out.

The defense held Oakland to a FG after Quinn was intercepted even though they started on the KC 45.

When the score was 6-6, Arenas muffed a punt giving Oakland the ball at KC's 14. Oakland gets a TD from there like they should and it's 13-6.

Cassel/Lilja muff the snap straight out of the gate and Oakland gets the ball on the KC 18. They hold Oakland to a FG.

Janowkowski wide right on a FG attempt. Jalil Brown was offsides. He gets to re-kick it and it's good.

13 of the 26 points were not on the defense imo.

RAC should not have spoken out. He should have just fired Daboll.

This D is slightly disappointing considering my borderline top 5 expectations but they' ve been put in bad position way too many times by turnovers and the offense won't give them a break. Overall, I think the D has done fine.

Here's the thing:

If Romeo Crennel is JUST the head coach, and not the defensive coordinator, he removes any potential conflict of interest.

As it is, there's no way he can make it look like he's NOT covering his own ass.

He should have kept his mouth shut.

Or hired a defensive coordinator.

I'm thankful for RAC. If the Chiefs had a coach of even limited competence, they might win six meaningless games. With Romeo at the helm, they might not win another. This team needed to hit rock bottom (again). The only way to replace this awful regime.

That's coaching, pure and simple.

Marty's teams were always competitive for one reason - the were always leading the NFL in takeaways.

They never gave up the ball and always ended up positive in takeaways.

This team is fucking sloppy as all hell. Completely undisciplined. And that's why were are getting shellacked every fucking week.

Coaching matters, even when these lazy cocksuckers shouldn't need it getting paid millions of dollars to play a game. Someone needs to be there and ram the basics and fundamentals up their collective asses with a broomstick. Ingrain it into their very existence.

These are a bunch of high profile college guys that succeeded at that level by simply being better than the other guy because they were (athletically, naturally, whatever). Fundamentals. Shove that shit up their asses.

But "player coaches" like Herm and Romeo aren't doing it.

Fire these pricks and get someone in here that will teach these guys how to play some fucking football.

Can we get Fisher Deberry and Bill Synder to come in here on a daily basis after this season?

Honestly, he would have been better off just saying "we didn't get kicked", emphasis on the word "we".

But he's the defensive coordinator, so going of the way he did going out of his way to talk up the defense makes him look self-serving and petty. Not what you want out of your HEAD COACH.

Then again, there's not much he does that you want out of your head coach.

agree with the second bit.

But I don't think the head coach has to defend the team's honour. He should hav acknowledge that they were kicked in every respect. IMO.
