Yeah, it's reminiscent of the megatron TD catch. It just depends on when they say he had control. I feel like it could have gone either way, but I still think it's a bad call. It had nothing to do with that call, but that aside, you thought wrong. The ground can absolutely cause a fumble. Announcers repeat that dumb ass statement without even thinking about it.

Say a guy dives with the football extended and the football touches the ground before any part of the ball carrier does. The ball pops out because it contacted the ground. A split second later, the guy who was carrying the ball hits the ground. Did the ground cause the fumble? Hell yes, it did.

What I think you are getting at, is that the rule is that if you are untouched the ground can cause a fumble, but if you are being tackled then the ground can't cause the fumble.

Dylan

What I think you are getting at, is that the rule is that if you are untouched the ground can cause a fumble, but if you are being tackled then the ground can't cause the fumble.

Close. I agree absolutely with the first part, but I'd tweak the second to say to say that if a player is already tackled then the ground can't cause a fumble. The ball is live until the instant a player is tackled, not the instant he's being tackled. (There's a slight difference.) If a player is being tackled (that is, if he's on his way down due to contact with an opposing player, but he isn't down yet), then the ground can still cause a fumble.

Picture the same diving player with an opponent hanging onto him. If the ball contacts the ground first and it pops out, (or if, say his hand hits the ground and that pops the ball out) it's a fumble caused by the ground.

Being tackled isn't necessarily the end of the play. Having been tackled is.

Well to be fair the 2 reasons the Colts have ever looked good was because of 2 first overall QBs.

Don't tell Chunt.... He'll argue that QBs are optional!

Cause they know when to tank seasons. Last year was a total ****ing tank job. I dont blame them for that, i give them 2 thumbs up for it. They are ****ing set for a long time. By the time luck is done in football, ill probably be 50.

Well as long as some Chiefs fans had fun the Sundays we beat CHI and GB last year. That's all that counts...............

In the race for the top picks no doubt about it. That would have set us on the path we are on now.

as bad as we were, we were not 1 game win bad like they were, I think they only won one. RG3 was up for grabs though, but wash swooped in early. it is what it is.

Agreed. I just point out that a little perspective shows how the potential or RG3 and Luck vs. winning some joke games is pretty extreme.

Maybe 4 inches. We usually get hit hard being high up. Glad that's all we got. Didn't seem to hurt the fight for power. We got it last night finally. A few towns over are looking at December. December.

I like NJ. I used to board and school my horse in Tewkesbury - right down the road from Gladstone...Beautiful towns.

Probably about 40 min south of me. NJ has a lot. Skiing, beach, two major cities next door, farm land, and really nice suburbs. Things like Jersey Shore just do not help our cause.

Not quite as vicious/clean of a hit though.

The one Trent took was full on and then the contact of Trent's head off the ground was pretty bad, IIRC.

Sorry... can't block someone who is about to make a play and tackle your teammate... you must get infront of them, no throwing a shoulder into their side when they aren't looking your way.

I love NJ...I've spent most of my life training during the week and showing in the tri-state area on weekends. We used to board in Bedminister - but it was a little too far away - J.C. lessons never end...I don't know how I survived some falls. It is a long way down especially when your horse stands 17.3 hands. LOL
