I feel incredibly stupid for wanting the Chiefs to draft him in two years, but I cannot ignore my desire. The heart wants what the heart wants.

6-1 199 lbs? No fucks given. His instincts for the game of football are insanely awesome to watch.

I'll take neg rep/destruction of my football opinions now.

LMAO

Who said that? About a 100 people back in 2008.

Also, it's difficult to judge a kid after just a few games. Plus, he's a shrimp. If Russell Wilson ends up with 3 or 4 great years, then Manziel has a chance. Otherwise, nope.

Drew Brees is six feet tall. If the kid can ball, he can ball, no?

Yeah, because every 6'0 college QB should be compared to Drew Brees.

What's funny is a lot of Aggie fans hated Tannehill and didn't think he was an NFL prospect. It's two different games. Fans tend to embrace scambling QBs because they make things exciting but tend to give a pass to weaknesses.

This kid is pretty fucking good.

That pass where the receiver got destroyed (but still made the catch) was a NFL quality laser with pinpoint accuracy against the best defense in college football.

Kansas City is in prime position to draft a QB this year. If the guy sucks, we'll be in a position to draft this kid when he comes out in a few.

I agree that Wilson is going to have to continue to progress, and this would help Manziel tremendously. That said, if he continues to beast, he'll get a shot, but his stature will mean that his leash will likely be very short, no pun intended.

So, what you're saying is that we should trade down and take the best available QB at 10?

Not sure Im ok with that, SNR.

Against soft zone coverages with plenty of protection.

Matt Cassel is a great QB when you give him all the time he needs without hurrying him.

McCarron should stay another year. I think he will anyway, but at this rate he's got 3rd rounder written all over him. A sturdier version of Brodie Croyle.

You'd think after the Chiefs being so horrid for so long, it'd make posters less assholeish about reality, but apparently not.

I'm not saying he's Drew Brees, I'm saying his height isn't a reason to automatically discount him.

Drew Brees can play because he can fit his throws into tight tight tight windows.

Manziel looks accurateish. It might not be good enough if he's actually only 5'11

No, but for every Brees theres about 500 guys with his measurables that washout.

NFL guys are looking for a certain measurables for a reason. Its because those guys have a higher precentage rate of success.

Couple things on Manziel.

Does not step up in the pocket well. He's a freshman and this trait should improve, especially if he drills it extensively (Manning Camp emphasiszes this, I suspect he'll be a counselor there)

Seems to have excellent accuracy that will only improve as he betters his release and footwork. ON his release, he does have a few balls wobble, but they get there anyway. Purely mechanical issue that can be corrected with reps.

Athletic and mobile, as everyone already knew.

His height, while some point as a hindrance, is currently. Manziel doesn't utilize the pocket well and is more comfortable throwing outside the pocket. For those that compare him to Brees or to a more accurate comparison in R. Wilson, both of those QBs typically prefer to throw in the pocket, utilizing throwing lanes and timing, rather than the scramble drill that Manziel kills with.

Manziel is a great prospect if he can learn to move within the pocket instead of outside. Running QBs don't work, even if they prefer to throw on the run, especially when they are small. I think that he has both the physical and mental tools to be an excellent QB at the next level, provided he learns to be elite within the pocket instead of trying to "Romo" each play. His running abilities should be used as a secondary weapon to succeed at the next level, not as a primary.

It wasn't particularly soft, and AJ was pressured. But I was at the stadium, so maybe it looked incorrect on TV.
