For $275,000 large per year!
Story here:

The last 12 months have been costly ones for Mizzou head football coach Gary Pinkel — the latest dun coming from his divorce settlement with ex-wife Vicki G. Pinkel.

A Boone County judgment entered on Nov. 5 requires Pinkel, 60, to pay $23,000 each month ($276,000 a year) in maintenance to his former spouse. Pinkel's salary is estimated at about $2.7 million a year. The couple has three grown children.

Pinkel, the head coach since 2001, lost about $300,000 of that pay last November when he was suspended for a week after being arrested in Columbia from driving while intoxicated. He also was required to donate another week's salary to charity and lost out on easily attainable bonuses.

I will never understand alimony. I get it that many women don't work and stay home with the kids meaning they have no career of their own to support them if they need to get out of a relationship.. but how does that equate to = 275k per year?

Why does an ex-husband (or wife) need to pay to maintain their ex's "standard of living"? 50k a year MAX for X amount of years and out the door. If she is willing/wanting to leave him... she should be ready and willing to walk away from his money too.

why the fuck do women even get alimony? seriously--it's not even like they have children to support anymore, they're all adults now.

Does he get to use that as a tax writeoff? And can he pay her all at once at the start to get her taxed higher?

You can live pretty large in Columbia, MO on $275,000 per year. Especially single, with no dependents. That would buy a shit load of Shakespere's Pizza!

Agreed. My grandfather told me of the good old days when you could have them committed if you got tired of them.

Or we can look at it this way...
for 275K a year Gary now gets to bang an endless number of 20 somethings in great shape that will be more than happy to blow him endlessly just so they have a story to tell all their sorority sisters.

Well played, Gary.
