* Raiders HC Allen announces this game will be used to "evaluate young talent."

* Raiders commentator George Atkinson announces "This will be an audition game" for backups and rookies.

* Raiders bring cornerback Chimdi Chekwa up from the practice squad to play against Chiefs.

* Raiders announce that OT rookie Tony Bergstrom will play guard vs Kansas City, a position he has never played before.

* Rookie defensive tackle Christo Bilukidi returned to work after missing practice Wednesday, but expects to get "evaluation time" against the Chiefs.

* Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain is back from suspension, but has been relegated to playing running back on the scout team. He will be allowed to play on Special Teams against the Chiefs. When asked about it by the media in the locker room, McClain replied, "I ain't got nothing to say about anything."

* Setback for Seymour: Starting defensive tackle Richard Seymour has missed five straight games with a hamstring injury, and his quest to play Sunday against Kansas City took a hit Thursday during practice. "Well, he had a little bit of a setback today as far as the hamstring is concerned," Raiders coach Dennis Allen said. "We'll evaluate him as we finish out the week, but it kind of grabbed him a little bit, so we'll see."

* Raiders safety Michael Huff will start at cornerback.

* Raiders leading tackler, starting strong safety Tyvon Branch, missed his third straight day of practice with ankle and neck injuries.

* Coach Allen said of QB Terrell Pryor: "The biggest thing is to start getting him into the game a little bit and let him see a little game action. I’m not ready to say that he’d be a starter."

* The Oakland Raiders defense ranks dead last in the NFL in Points Allowed.

* The Oakland Raiders have the draft tiebreaker over the Kansas City Chiefs due to Strength of Schedule

* The Chiefs have won eight of their past nine games at Oakland.

Spread: Chiefs -1

After opening as a pick 'em in most sportsbooks, bettors have backed Quinn and made the Chiefs favorites coming into Sunday's contest.

Sadly, Dennis Allen knows he'll be back next year and knows he needs to lose the game and the rest of the season to get Geno.

More Sadly, Crennel knows he won't be back next year and wants to win in the worst way. He does not care about the first pick. He'd prefer to have a meaningless 7th pick if he could get three more wins on his horrible HC record.

I don't think the Raiders want a QB. Really. Raiders fans seem done with Palmer (happy with that trade now?) But I don't think the team is done with Palmer. Even with the first pick I think the Raiders go D. Smith isn't a sure fire first overall pick, and I don't think its a given that whoever has the frist pick is taking him.

I don't think the team is done with Palmer.

Palmer is due $13 mil in 2013.

Talk about headquarters is that Raiders will refuse to pay him that cuz they are in rebuild mode & Carson will be too old by the time GM McKenzie gets his personnel in place.

The Faid are pulling moves that only returning coaches pull when the suckage is this great. In my humble opinion, the Chiefs lack of similar moves indicates that Pioli and crew know there will be no tomorrow. They're refusing to play Stanzi and a few others because they aren't interested in providing tape for the next GM and staff. This gives me the warm fuzzies...

Key will be to have the ball last in regulation. Put Quinn in the shot gun formation. Have him turn and sprint out of the back of the endzone... outrunning the entire Faider defense who will be frantically chasing him trying to stop him... to take a safety as the clock hits 0:00 and lose 2-0!

Why Kansas City Covers

The Raiders have been the worst team in the league over the last six weeks. They have gone 0-6 straight up and 0-5-1 against the spread during this stretch. They have lost five of those six games by 10 or more points, and they are giving up a ridiculous 35.8 points per game during this skid. You could certainly make the argument that Kansas City should be favored given Oakland's recent play.

That’s especially the case when you look at how well the road team has fared in this rivalry. The road squad has won 11 of the last 12 meetings, which is absolutely astounding. Dating back further, the road team is 21-5-1 against the spread in the last 27 meetings. Kansas City is 8-1 against the spread in its last 9 meetings in Oakland.

This play falls into a system that is 23-4 (85.2%) ATS since 1983. It tells us to bet on all teams where the line is +3 to -3 (KANSAS CITY) – revenging an upset loss against opponent as a favorite, terrible team, winning 25% or less of their games, in the second half of the season.

Oakland is 22-46-1 against the spread in its last 69 home games. The Raiders are 18-42-1 against the spread in their last 61 vs. a team with a losing record. Oakland is 1-11 against the spread in home games vs. very bad defensive teams who give up 27 or more points/game since 1992. Kansas City is 10-1 against the spread in road games off a road blowout loss by 14 points or more since 1992.

You exhibit far more compassion than I would be want to afford to you. Your relative saintly nature is both hereby demonstrated and duly noted.

Decorum demands that I must also bow to your superior football knowledge... although I was deceived most grievously by past circumstance. The record clearly shows that your opinion is suspect with regard to Chiefly prowess in the pursuit of victory - I had no idea that you would exhibit such astounding acumen in predicting KC suckage. And now I find myself kneeling before you with downcast eyes, admitting that your team does in fact suck far, far worse than my own.

The spoils are that you are free to rejoice in my pain - for with both surprise and horror I witnessed, before my very eyes, the Kansas City Chiefs come into my town and tank a game so blatantly with assured aplomb and calculated expertise. It was unprecedented... precise.... actually a thing of perverse beauty in a twisted kind of way.

How could the Raiders just fall into the web, get caught in the trap, sacrifice the future without even trying to compete? They could have whiffed the tackles, they could have refused to catch the passes, they could have pulled the field goals... and yet they just stood there and played football. At the very least make an attempt at a zero - zero score. But to just intentionally try and win a game certain to land Geno in KC? Why? WHY??

As I try to fathom the inexplicable performance of my team today, I am ruefully reminded of a gif that I used earlier to taunt TomSlash's inadequate IQ. As I looked up at the scoreboard this dark and dreary day, I was struck by the possibility that its message more adequately applies to the coaching staff and players of my beloved Raider team than it does to the cognitive ability of TomSlash.... perhaps, even to me. Perhaps it was actually boomeranging Cleesian prescience when He declared:

Many questions about the Raiders performance remain unanswered... maybe we will never truly know the underlying factors that drove the organization to the depths we witnessed this day. But one fact has been demonstrated with utmost clarity, one shining example of a fan's cognizance of his own team's talent to tank and suck... and you, GoChiefs are that fan. Only you truly understood the degree of teh suckage that is today's Kansas City Chiefs. With abject humility I pronounce that you win about your team losing in Oaktown today. As you so rightly insisted with unwavering determination, your team is horrible without peer.

But seriously, how many undies did you fudge when the announcers said "Carson Palmer is our QB of the future?"

What? I thought the announcer said "Carson Palmer is the Raider QB of future games this season unless they want to take a look at Pryor."

Taste those tears.

The Chiefs knew beating us would've tied them with us while letting the Raiders win clinches one of the top 2 picks for them and pushes us into the dogpile. A league investigation is in order.

Just **** the Chiefs. I hope they get Geno with that ill-gotten 1st overall pick and then I hope he busts out worse than JR.

NFL should not reward Chiefs with 1st overall pick. Get that lottery going before this draft.

The Chiefs are the #5 rushing offense in the league and so far they've rushed the ball 9 times for 10 yards? If that's not indirect evidence of throwing a game, I don't know what is.

I can't believe you still think Chiefs are trying to win and we are winning a "fair" game. They won't win another game this season and they don't want to. Book it.

I think the NFL should institute a random draft position draw for every team not in the chase for playoffs spots. It would put an end to games like this where two teams look like they are trying to be the most inept.

No. The refs know penalties isn't the worst they can do to us, so they are conspiring to prevent us from getting the 1st overall pick.

I know for a fact that the Chiefs did not throw this game. That charge is completely unfair to the storied Chiefs organization.... a despicable act by ignorant fans. I know this cuz I looked it up on Wikipedia:

"Games that are deliberately lost are sometimes called thrown games. When a team intentionally loses a game, or does not score as high as it can, to obtain a perceived future competitive advantage (for instance, earning a high draft pick) rather than gamblers being involved, the team is often said to have tanked the game instead of having thrown it."
