Keep in mind, I'm talking just purely the position itself.

Mine:

1. Joe Montana
2. Peyton Manning
3. John Elway

Montana is #1. Far and away. After that it gets mucky for me...

I'll say:
1. Montana
2. Manning, Peyton
3. Brady.

But I also never got to see a lot of the old schoolers play.

I wouldn't complain a bit with either - it's hard to choose only three when you've been watching football as long as I have. I loved watching Bobby Lane play too, but I couldn't put him in a top QB list.

Obviously not. I would rate him somewhere around Chris Chandler.

My top three would be:

Montana
Unitas
Marino

Apologies to Otto Graham, Tom Brady, and Steve Young.

Never got to watch Layne, but I loved watching John Hadl play in his day.

Stats and production translate to greatness. Where would you rank him? This should be less than interesting.

in that case, Brett Favre is #1 all time if stats are the only thing.

ROFL.

Elway is everything you look for in a modern QB. Size, mobility, arm strength.

A lot of people say his early stats were not great because he was handcuffed by Reeves. It was a different era then. He would obviously throw the ball a lot more if he played in todays game. Todays QBs throw so much more than even 25-30 years ago.

Jim Kelly > Elway

If you are going say that about Elway then Jim Kelly needs to get some credit.

Kelly was a great QB, but you're ****ing high if you think he was better than Elway.

Jim Kelly had that offense rolling. That was an offensive machine of the 90's more so than what the Donks did or any other team in the 90's. So if you are to say Elway = Rogers then put Jim Kelly on the list. A wide right field goal is what keeps Jim Kelly from getting any notoriety in discussion in this toppic.

Otto Graham - Only lost 4 games out of 60.
Johnny Unitas - 47 games in a row with a touchdown pass. Bad assed and tough, long before quarterbacks were coddled like raw eggs.
Joe Montana - Every single game was possible when Joe was at the helm.

Jim Kelly was surrounded by outstanding talent on those Bills teams.

John Elway carried mediocre talent to 3 SBs.

No, but we are talkinig best of the best here so you're going to need to need to at least bring a career QB rating of at least 80 to the table before you can be mentioned as a possible GOAT.
