View Full Version : Chiefs how about Boldin (if released) in KC opposite Bowe?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9034272/anquan-boldin-receives-ultimatum-baltimore-ravens-report-says

According to Fox Sports, the Baltimore Ravens have given an ultimatum to wide receiver Anquan Boldin: Take a pay cut or get released Tuesday.

The Ravens are looking to reduce Boldin's $7.5 million salary-cap number to increase their chances of re-signing free-agent linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and safety Ed Reed. Boldin, who played a big part in Baltimore's Super Bowl title run, is scheduled to earn $6 million in 2013.

The Ravens were expected to keep Boldin after the team didn't have to use the franchise tag on quarterback Joe Flacco, who signed a six-year, $120.6 million deal.

In the playoffs, Boldin caught 22 passes for 380 yards receiving (95 yards per game) and four touchdowns. He has led Baltimore in receiving yards in each of the past three seasons since being traded from Arizona.

Boldin, 32, said last month that he would retire if he was cut by the Ravens. Since the Ravens won the Super Bowl, linebacker Ray Lewis and center Matt Birk have retired and Baltimore has released guard Bobbie Williams.

I realize Boldin said he would retire but so did Brett Faaaaaahvre and Randy Moss. Boldin would be 100x the receiver Baldwin is and it would not cost any draft pics.

Not at 32-33 yo. A one year contract maybe? I don't think he would live up to the expectations if he came here.

Baldwin seriously needs coached up or we do need find someone else. I'd be on his ass this offseason and not let up. See if he can come around or not. Coaching was piss poor last year so this is why I want to give Baldwin the benefit of the doubt that he can still turn it around and be productive for us. Also shit QB play didn't help any.

Boldin isn't a good compliment to Bowe.

It would be like Fitz/Boldin in AZ. That said, he may not compliment Bowe but he would compliment an Offense that won't be throwing deep. Having 2 big receivers who can go get the ball and produce YAC would be a big boost to this offense. Especially it it benches Baldwin or converts him to a TE.

He was told he wouldn't be back about almost right after the SB.

Shit....I missed that.

It's looking like either A.J. Jenkins sucks or that pick was a mistake.

I'm really surprised we didn't make a run for him if he was only going to cost a 6th.

The Ravens have to draft a WR now. They have nobody behind Torrey Smith. Jacoby Jones isn't a starter, and I don't even know any other WR on the roster.

We were thinking about going All IN, but settled for all in.

Watch it come out that they are trading our 6 rounder for him.

He's making 6 mil this year. I would take him but not at 6 mil. We need a 2nd corner bad

That pick was widely panned at the time. And, like Crabs, he still has time to turn it around. Boldin's probably a stop-gap.

Baltimore got hosed

First the Niners offload Alex Smith for the #34 pick plus a 2nd/3rd the next year. Then they pick up Baldin for a 6th round pick.

49ers GM has blackmail material hidden somewhere.

Meh.

Boldin isn't worth anything with that salary. He's dime a dozen. Good player, but you can do better. We had no need for Anquan Boldin on our team.

LMAO

what the fuck do we need Anquan Boldin for?

of course, I was the minority that said Steve Breaston was clearly washed up and Pioli didn't have a vendetta against him...he just wasn't good anymore

but I'm a moron

Boldin will have 60 catches and 800 yards in San Fran next year. Cool. He fits a need for them I suppose.

we have no need for Anquan Boldin nor would Anquan Boldin have wanted to come to KC.

Alex Smiths and Anquan Boldins bread and butter are the same types of plays. Having Bowe and Boldin would have been about as good of a win now move as we could ave hoped for.

You're right about one thing, though...he wouldn't have came to KC in a million years.

Yeah you have to go all the way back to ye old days of 2009 since the 49ers have screwed the Jags in a trade. The Jags gave up their 2010 first rounder for Everette Brown. The 49ers used that pick to get Anthony Davis, the stud RT.

LMAO I don't even know who either of them are. You can keep your "stud" RT since they win Super Bowls. Lawl. Stupid niners fan.

Adding him would have given us two similar players. To compliment Bowe we need more of a speed guy that can stretch the field.

That said the 49'ers are raping people on trades this year...:#
