I bet if we reached out the guy would love to play and retire his last year here.

I bet he would like to retire a Chief, but not play here again.

Not a chance. He would ask too much money and am sure he would just assume play for the Falcons and have a chance at a Super Bowl. I think there is better odds us drafting Geno Smith than Gonzo comming back to KC to play a year. I don't think we are going to draft Geno Smith just saying the odds.

Yeah, he's going to not return to Atlanta and come to a 2-14 team. That's the ticket.

It's "just as soon", meaning "have no preference one way or the other",....sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine.
There, you learned something today.

It's funny/sad/pathetic that a 40 year old TE would bring in more fans than a newly drafted QB would in this town.

He is a better actor than Winston, though not by much.

Tony should quit now. Even if he returns to ATL he will be drinking Matt Ryan tears when they lose the first playoff game. He should consider himself lucky to get one playoff win. They barely pulled that one out.

his life would be so bad making another $7M, not having to participate in training camp, and padding his already first ballot hall of fame stats while he remains on top of his game.

Tony Gonzalez is my favorite Chief ever...the dude is amazing.

The fact all of the lol Chargers trollz once proclaimed Antonio Gates would break all of Tony G's records was great...

Tony Gonzalez has not lost a step. He remains in his "prime" at age 37. Antonio Gates has been washed up now for 2 years. Hilarious.

You are hysterical.

This should have been put in the random thoughts thread.

Because there are younger, cheaper players available. Plus, if he's going to comeback it for a shot at the SB. That's not happening here this season.

At this point I don't think it's about the money. Going out with a playoff win is possible now but come back next year could go either way. Matt Ryan typically crumbles in the playoffs

I think it is ALWAYS about the money in the NFL. At least that is priority #1.

totally agree

I was going to say 'all of sports' but a lot of time in the NBA the mega superstars who make hundreds of millions like Shaq or Malone will sign 1 years towards the end of their careers with contenders to try and get a ring or more rings.

Although, I don't think Gonzo needs to worry about ATL winning it all. I don't think they'll stop their habit of choking anytime soon.

I have brought this up half-jokingly. I see it's getting a more serious treatment here. But Gonzo was one of my all time favorites and would love to see him signed here for the last year of his career.

I also think it's very unlikely, but talk about a PR coup by the FO!

I'm sure he'd love to play for a team that is likely going to have to win on the road to get to the SB from a WC, rather than playing on a team that went 14-2 and has the chance to get at least a HFA in their first playoff game.

I mean, that sounds totally reasonable.
