I don't get this, go look at Alex Smith highlights he has a bunch where he throws the ball really far and accurate. I saw one where I counted the yardage and he threw it in the air 55 yards and hit a running reciever in stride.

The 49ers weren’t the only NFC team who made a trade offer for Baltimore’s Anquan Boldin.

PFT’s Mike Florio, citing a source with knowledge of the discussions, reports the Vikings offered a seventh-round pick to Baltimore for Boldin.

The 49ers, of course, got the deal done with a sixth-rounder, strengthening a pass catching corps that already had quality performers in wide receiver Michael Crabtree and tight end Vernon Davis.

Meanwhile, Minnesota, which is poised to trade top target Percy Harvin to Seattle, is still in need of some major help at wide receiver.
Seriously...they have NOTHING at WR and they couldn't offer a 6th (which would be higher than the 49ers 6th) for Boldin?

Probably something similar to what the Rams/Redskins pulled last year. Let a team make an offer to set the price for the team you want to trade the player/pick to.

what is the chance that a 6th rd pick would do anything for this team next season? very slim to none.

Dashon Goldson - DB - 49ers

CSN Bay Area says Anquan Boldin's acquisition makes it less likely free agent FS Dashon Goldson re-signs with the 49ers.
Boldin brings a $6 million salary along with him to San Francisco, and that money could have been allocated to locking up Goldson long-term. Beat writer Matt Maiocco says the 49ers "expect to lose" Goldson in free agency, now. He's reportedly seeking $8 million annually, and there's a good chance he will find it.

The Chiefs don't need to spend $6 million year on a 32 year old WR that's slower than dirt.

$6 million of that can go to Dashon Goldson or another worthy, YOUNGER player.

Why would you advocate that the Chiefs spend $6 million for a 32 year old WR that's likely to play only one more year (he stated after that Super Bowl that he'd retire before playing for another team), when the Chiefs still need a starting safety, ILB, right tackle and likely, a CB?

I didn't advocate getting him, read my post again spaz. I said the 49ers are getting away with murder, the 49ers got Boldin and replaced Randy Moss for him for a 6th round pick. I'm measuring great players here, and lets face it Boldin is much better at his position than Alex Smith is at his.

Recievers rarely bring much back in trades...Especially when they are likely to be cut. Marshall went for like a 3rd and Holmes was dealt for a 5th.

I don't agree with him, but Andy obviously felt that they uggraded the QB position immensely by dealing for Alex. QB's are always going to fetch a higher price. Look at Shaub, Cassel, Flynn....etc.

Oh, I definately agree it's an upgarde. But, by how much? Still seems like we have an extremely limited QB that can't win games on his arm. Horrible record when forced to throw over 30 times and when the team gives up 24 points. Sound familiar?

Really? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Boldin won't get the 49ers at least 1 PF 15 yarder per game for a late hit or spearing/leading with the helmet, like Goldson did every game. I'm gonna go out on this limb a little farther and say Boldin has better coverage skills than Goldson. Sure, Dashon is a big hitter, but he is a poor tackler and not very smart about the team concept. I could point out as many examples as you want, but, it doesn't really matter. Goldson wasn't going back to SF anyways. He wants $8 mil a year, and there's no way the 49ers are going to pay him that much. Maybe Cleveland or Buffalo will.

I'm going to disagree. Guys like Markus Wheaton and Quinton Patten will go on to have solid careers and they're guys that are going to be available in the 2nd round. This draft lacks top end AJ Green/Julio Jones talent, but it's as deep as ever at the WR position.

AJ will be better than last year though, provided he can catch one pass.

I'm going to disagree. Guys like Markus Wheaton and Quinton Patten will go on to have solid careers and they're guys that are going to be available in the 2nd round. This draft lacks top end AJ Green/Julio Jones talent, but it's as deep as ever at the WR position.

AJ will be better than last year though, provided he can catch one pass.

i guess when i look to next years draft, and i see sammy watkins, marquise lee, and others, i guess this one looks down.....

The guy isn't worth his salary. Trading a pick for an overpaid player is foolish. Baltimore got a 6th for a guy they were cutting tomorrow. That's a good move.

Do not concur. This guys showed in the playoffs that he is still a very good receiver. It is completely on the Ravens that they didn't throw the ball to him often enough during the regular season.

Mike Wallace is about to get paid $10-12m per year. I know he is much younger and faster than Bolden. AB is worth at least what Wallace will make. Especially to a team that will actually use him!

SF shipped off a NOTHING draft pick to make sure they got him. I love the move for the Niners.

Ed Reed is next...

Did you, by chance, have your brain sucked out by one of those giant bugs in Starship Troopers?

I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

There's some potential there. He's got a ways to go, though.

he looks greener at WR than Poe does at DL

You went and looked up Poe's "stats" before you wrote this didn't you?
