Sure, Alex Smith is excited to have Bowe running routes for him in 2013, but the excitement goes both ways.

"That was a great move," Bowe said of the Chiefs trade for Smith. "I canít wait to work with him."

The former Pro Bowler was also thrilled about the other moves, made by the Chiefs.

"Theyíre just making great moves all around the board," Bowe told me, via phone.

"They want to come in and win right away, no waiting. Theyíre going all out to get the best guys available, to make the season more exciting."

While it wasn't a shocker that both Smith and Bowe are excited to be teammates, I was surprised what Dwayne told me about his thought process, leading up to the league's franchise tag deadline.

"I didnít have a thought process," Bowe admitted.

"I actually knew, I had a really good gut feeling that when Andy (Reid) and John (Dorsey) came aboard, that they were going to make the right decision on signing me and not waiting until the deadline.

Thatís what they did. The first day they came in, when I met with them, I had a really good feeling (that) they wanted me and showed great interest in me. So, my mind didnít wonder at all, ĎWhere will I go? Which team likes me?í, I knew deep down that I was going to be a Chief."

One of the men responsible for keeping Bowe in KC, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, whose reputation as an offensive mind, intrigued the wide receiver.

"He likes to throw the ball and heís an offensive coach," Bowe said.

"When youíre making a decision on going anywhere, you want to go somewhere, where the head coach is offensive minded. When I met with him, he just told me what he could do with me and what he would like to do with me, if I was to stay on board, that right there got me excited."

Not only playing for coach Reid, but watching what some of his former players have been able to do, under his teaching, has Bowe setting his goals high in 2013.

"I think about (coach Reidís former WRs) Jason Avant and DeSean Jackson and that got me excited, because those guys are big-time playmakers and I want to be the same," Bowe said.

As we were concluding our phone interview, I wanted Dwayne's final words to be a message to you, the fans, addressing what you can expect from him this season; he responded in Pro Bowl fashion.

"Iím going to be somebody that can help the offense and who can get the fans excited," Bowe professed.

Like Bowe, I'm all in with the direction of this franchise, expecting great things in 2013 and beyond.

I dont' agree with that. He never seemed very happy under Pioli.

I don't think it has much to do with Alex Smith or Andy Reid or Dorsey. I think it has to do with the bullshit media blackout Pioli and his fucking goons forced on guys like Bowe. Bowe is allowed to be Bowe again. That's why he's happy.

Bowe has always been a trooper.

I remember when Tyler Thigpen had to start for us in 2008. And Bowe kept up a great attitude for the press, and said he wanted Tyler to be sure he'd look his way on third and long.

For a dude occasionally criticized as being a showboater, the guy has never been a malcontent. Ever.

I know Alex Smith isn't the most popular choice, but I like that the new Chiefs leadership is looking to win now. Yeah, maybe we finish 9-7 or 8-8, but I like that Dorsey and Reid aren't just waiting around and instead our going out there and doing their damndest to make sure the abortion of last season doesn't happen again.

Yup, I guess I'm "that" optimistic guy right now.

Bowe better get his shit together. He better start cussing the Alex Smith deal, and start talking about Geno's black cock. He better start hating Reid and demanding a trade.

He needs to donate some of that new contract money to flying a banner over Arrowhead in week 1 demanding Dorsey's head on a stick.

The New York Giants and Green Bay Packers have both won Super Bowls with 9-7 regular season records recently.

The Arizona Cardinals were 2 minutes from winning a Super Bowl with a 9-7 record.

2-14 won't get you to the show.

2-14 won't get you to the show. Those teams are also diametrically the opposite of what we're going to be. We have to follow the Jets/49ers template of the last few years, which was building a fantastic team capable of carrying a sub-par quarterback. Those teams, or at least the two winners, were flawed teams carried to victory by their signal caller. And yes, that includes grampa trick-thumb Warner, who played phenomenal ball in the playoffs that year for an 8000 year old QB.

im not debating eli, although, he had `HUGE `help from his defense holding the patriots under 20 points both times.

and Rodgers had a lot of help from a defense that gave up a ton of yards, but also lead the league in turnovers. Including the deciding one in the super bowl by bj raji. Now, the 15-1 year, he had no help, and that cost them.

But, your argument, was A+

Eli won both his games against a HOFer by a cunt hair in the clutch

Rodgers was the MVP of the league and in his respective SB.

Outside of the whole importing thing, Bowe has been nothing but a class act in the organization. What do you expect him to say?

Edit: just say this too:

The Giants in 2007 and the Packers in 2010 both went 10-6. Only the most recent Giants Super Bowl team was 9-7

9-7 in a stronger division than the AFC West...

In the overly sanitized and PC world of professional sports, you do not know that.

Does it say something that Bowe goes on record about Smith? Yes, because 52 other guys more often than not choose to keep their head down and not say a word about what they really think because of the consequences.

If players talk about teammates it's in reaction to an objectively "negative" story as in a release, trade or other departure in that they don't want to see said player leave the squad for one reason or another, or because what they're saying is positive or celebratory in nature, like "Man, XXXX is a great teammate, a real student of the game," and "you know he's had some rough games but he gives 110% in practices to get better."
