When you're a world-class athlete and you step away from the game, it's difficult to stay in the best shape. Ask ex-Lions and Dolphins quarterback Scott Mitchell, who gained enough weight since leaving the game of football to warrant joining NBC's weight-loss reality television show The Biggest Loser.

Mitchell, since leaving the game in the early aughts, has ballooned up to 366 pounds. He'll be joined on the show by former Jets offensive lineman Damien Woody, currently 388 pounds (relatively svelte compared to Mitchell's increase in girth).

Now 46 years old and 366 pounds, Mitchell has sleep apnea and high blood pressure. Weight has been an issue since age 35 due to a busy life and poor diet. With five kids ranging in age from 11 to 21, he wants to be there for his family and is ready to embrace a healthy lifestyle. When he loses the weight, he says he wants to look amazing in clothes and be physically active.
Losing weight and getting healthy is a good thing -- hopefully Mitchell and Woody can stick around long enough to make the show work for them.

I'd rather own a QT in Ferguson Missouri than read another Deberg thread.

The pounds will just melt away when he slides into one (or two) of those vibrating seats in Atlanta...

I gotta be honest. He looks pretty svelte for 366 pounds. Woody doesn't look that bad at 388, either. I guess it helps to be tall.

It's the new trend, the option is passe now. Now it's all about slow, immobile 400 lb. quarterbacks that are difficult to sack.

Dude could really wing it back in the mid 90s. Detroits offense was solid.

I was looking forward to watching Marino face Montana when the Chiefs played in Miami in '93… only to have Marino go down in week #2 of that season with the achilles injury and I had to watch a Scott Mitchell vs. Montana match-up instead.

And to add insult to injury, the Dolphins destroyed the Chiefs that game and Scott Mitchell looked great.
