QB: Grbac, Moon, Collins
P: Saurbrun
K: Stoyanovich

Keep Alford. The upside is huge and we got him for a song. Keep him and grow him in our system.

gaz
wants to keep that legendary Chiefs OL.
Good call Gaz, Riley will be entering his last year, and I don't see us spending a big amount on him. I noticed Stills is missing, I think this is correct, no one seems happy with him. I think Ransom over Martin or Word. We may keep another young WR, and I think O'neal makes the team

Okay, if we keep Alford, that leaves like 1 additional player to complete the roster...who will it be?....

KCRed, I included Stills...Ransom could take Martins place on the DL...

Joe - my vote would be for O'Neal (LB) - he's got big upside potential as a FAgent.

Brad Willis OL, I think he beat out Stai, and he can play Center, which may put Smith in danger.

gaz, you had to be happy with the way Clemmons looked...I was...I see some potential QB crushing...and McGlockton was possessed...he blew up the line a few times...this could be the best DL we've ever had...

I think Smith is gone....I just read in the KC Star after Smith jumped offsides in practice Gun said something like "That's why you're going to be looking for a job"...Gun ain't playing...he won't tolorate penalties...can you blame him...how many points did we give up or lose because of stupid penalties?....

Hey Joe - Buch Buchannon may have had a few things to say about your comment http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/wink.gif

ChiTown, O'Neal instead of another LB or as part of the group I listed?

I said could be...but let me rephrase my comment out of respect for that great Chiefs team...this could be our best DL in over 20 years...

Different eras, but no way this ranks up there with Buck, Mays, Culp and Stills. Not even sure about Phillips, Sally, Smith, and the other guy.

I can't remember where I saw it but I read something yesterday or Friday that was very positive about Alford. It said the O line coach was seeing very good progress.

I would keep O'Neal over Stills, and add some additional help at QB. Collins (for that matter all our back-ups) scare the hell out of me. Not sure who we would sign, though. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/frown.gif

While Buchannon, Culp, Still, et al...may be the best...I think what we have now has the potential to be better then Smith, Sally, Phillips...DT was not a true lineman so out of respect for him I will not include him as part of any DL group...

If Williams plays like he did three years ago...and Clemmons continues what I saw last week...this will be the best DL in many a year...

Let's hope there are some fair QBs cut or released in the next week or so...Grbac is okay if he gets his head out of his *** but if he goes down...we are in trouble...at this point, Moon should still be #2 because I shudder at the thought of Collins coming in if EG gets hurt...I think Moon will be okay if he gets the playing time...at least for this year...

I've talked about this before, but does Hostetler start to make sense now? Can't be any worse than Collins and he has a better head on his shoulders.

wutamess

How old is Jeff Hostettler....38 or something?...he would be a stop gap measure until we could get someone else...I think Collins has potential but he sure hasn't shown it...

I dont think Hoss wants to play any more. Ever since his son was injured, he has stated that football isnt that important to him.

Hoss turns 38 this year. I had heard on Fox Sports that he was still interested in playing in a back-up capacity. Just hadn't heard his phone ring yet.

Who knows, Fox misquotes/misrepresents all the time. Credibility, and Fox Sports are not synonomous. (much like Ole' Drew) http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

kcred and gaz scooped me. I was going to suggest that you had left out Alford, Willis, Ransom and O'Neal (costing Smith and Parten at least). Also you have 9 DBs listed. Is it possible they'd keep that many? I figure Pat Dennis might well get bumped to the PS, although I think they'll want to hang on to him.

I have heard that Hostetler has been looking to get a try-out for the last while since his son has been doing better. Cleveland was a team of choice for him, but they haven't come calling. FWIW, I think Moon is probably as good an option (or better) than Hoss. With Collins looking average at best, I think Moon should step in at #2 for another year, and then if we have to go to a 3rd string, you could do a lot worse than Collins.

cormac,

my feeling on the DBs is that most of the non-starters and a couple of the starters also play special teams...plus...although I don't think it will happen...Dishman might be gone...and you may be right about smith and parten...hadn't heard much about o'neal so wasn't sure...

who the **** is out there at the QB position that might actually be worth looking at?...can't believe that any of the QBs that will be cut can be of much use...but who knows...

I like this BB because it bleeps me...so I can just type and ****ing type...

joe,

It seems as though there is room for the 9 DBs you mentioned. I am just not real sure what number of players from each position are usually kept. I think we kept 8 DBs last year, but then again we had extra kickers, 4QBs etc.....
Now that Graham is gone, Smith might be kept. Who knows. It seems to me from what I have read that O'Neal is a possible keeper also. Finally, unsettling as this is, we need Dishman for one more year. Otherwise we'd have Warfield starting and Gray or Bartee as nickle back. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/eek.gif JMO.

From the kcstar:

Veteran Jeff Smith was practicing with the second team at right guard Monday. His spot on the team would seem precarious because of a practice-field comment made by Cunningham after Smith jumped before the snap.

"That's why you're going to be looking for a job," Cunningham yelled at Smith.

If Donald Willis can play center, I'd be more than happy with the release of Smith.

yep, i'm afraid we are stuck with Dishman...it's been mixed reviews this year...one second people are saying he looks great and the next second I'm watching him get burned for a TD...IMO our secondary is the weakest part of our D....at least half of it anyway...

Cormac - I think we kept 9 DBs until we started to bring in the kicking specialists. That was when Juran Bolden was cut.

I guess that's just the way it's going to be with Dishman this year (like last year). Either getting toasted, or returning an INT. We'll just have to grin and bear it I guess.

The secondary does appear weak, but on the flip-side, at least we are looking a youth movement right in the eyes, FWIW.

I am very pleased with the D...Atkins may get burned a few times and Dish will be off and on...but you are right...the movement is on...Atkins could be special once he gets his coverages down...The line looks great...the LBs are great...Patton looks like he could play for another 3 years...now if our O could just catch up...we might be good.... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/cool.gif

My 3 concerns:

1) The secondary (meaning all CBs other than Hasty. The safeties will be fine allowing for the occasional mistake by Atkins/Wesley)

2) Will Elvis get the ball to the receivers? SlyMo could kill opposing defenses.

3) Can the coaching staff get the most out of the players? Unfortunately this is my biggest concern. I am convinced that the team is better (personnel-wise) from last year - can they make that advantage count? If we sweep Seattle, I'll give the coaching staff full credit for improvement.
