Vikings Message Board has been shut down permanently. It will not return. There are two primary reasons.
1. The Vikings cowardly decision to reinstate a child abuser and think that an apology will make this blow over. We will not stand for this arrogance and we will no longer be the home of any support of the Vikings. We stand for those who cannot defend themselves.
2. We will not give a voice to thugs who think child abuse is "cultural" or worse, openly advocate child abuse as a reasonable method of punishment. This ends here. Yes, a few board members have ruined it for everyone. Congratulations, assholes.

Sorry if Q.

He's got nothing to do with this, other than being called a thug by people, much like the vikings site calling Peterson a thug.

Neither are thugs, but certainly that does not excuse what has been done.

I was there and that is not true. ESPN's countdown show tonight 1Royal reception and 1 Allen reception where Sherman was in coverage. They were shorter routes that used a change of direction because he has a long stride and it takes him longer.

Exactly. After the video, everyone acted shocked and surprised. I'm guessing the Peterson video wouldn't look any more pretty or bearable to watch.

Also, Peterson is the best back in the league, so he's getting some star treatment here. The Vikings don't want to be humiliated at home again.

I'll play devil's advocate on this one. There were rumors that she had instigated the fight, both she and Rice were charged with the same misdemeanor, and she said she deserved some of the blame. All those factors are enough for someone who is inclined to support him to say that they are withholding judgement because they don't know what really happened. But when the video came was released all that went out the window.

Exactly. After the video, everyone acted shocked and surprised. I'm guessing the Peterson video wouldn't look any more pretty or bearable to watch.

Also, Peterson is the best back in the league, so he's getting some star treatment here. The Vikings don't want to be humiliated at home again.

This goes beyond star treatment, which I think of as maybe overlooking some minor infractions. AP admitted to beating a child, and we have pics of it. AP can't even say, "It wasn't that bad." We can SEE how bad it was.

I don't know how the team could allow him to play (I haven't heard the league office say anything)--especially when the NFL took such shit over Rice only at first getting 2 games. And Rice wasn't even arrested.

How does AP get LESS of a consequence?

I have never in my entire life read that the New York Giants' QB and FB took bribes to throw the 1946 NFL Championship Game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1946_NFL_Championship_Game

The 1946 National Football League Championship Game was played at the Polo Grounds in New York City on December 15, 1946. The final score was Chicago Bears 24, New York Giants 14. It was the 14th annual NFL championship game. The attendance was 58,346.

The day before the game, two players for the Giants, Frank Filchock and Merle Hapes, had been accused of taking bribes to fix the game from Alvin Paris. Mayor William O'Dwyer had Jack Mara, Wellington Mara and Bert Bell informed of the police evidence against the two. Hours later, the four then met at Gracie Mansion and the mayor interviewed the players one at a time.[1] Under questioning, Hapes admitted that he was offered a bribe and Filchock denied being offered it. Several hours later, Paris was arrested and confessed to bribing the players. Hapes was suspended by Bell, but Filchock was allowed to play.[2] During Paris' trial weeks later, Filchock admitting taking the bribe under oath.[3]

1946. The first season for the All America Football Conference. The Cleveland Browns won the championship every one of the four years the league played. Then they moved to the NFL and won the championship their first year in the league.

After a hell of a run in their first 20 years, it's been basically downhill ever since.

I wonder if the founding of the AAFC had anything at all to do with the scandal you found. I had never heard of it either.

From what I've read from Vikings fans over the last couple of days, I can see why the owners of that site nuked their board. It's like Heston setting off the A-bomb when he realized that Earth was overrun by monkeys and mutants in the second Planet of the Apes movie. Some things are better off dead.

I'll say this, while what Peterson did was wrong I feel more sorry for him than anything.

This guys was raised by his grandmother in fucking Palestine Texas which has a population of around 18,000.

Old Black grandmothers are NOTORIOUS for being fucking sadistic as shit when it comes to discipline. Combine that with the fact that he was probably a good size kid, she probably beat the shit out of him.

I dont think he was out to cause physical harm to his own child, I think that's just what he knows. And as sad and pathetic as that is, I don't think it's the same as Ray Rice at all.

Ray Rice baited his wife into an uppercut, he's a piece of shit and I dont care if he never plays again. But this was a parent that went too far. This was child abuse. And A LOT of parents have been there. It'd be one thing if AP was coming home from a game and just slapping his kids around. We've all seen AP with his son, we know he loves him. But I just think he needs to understand that the world is bigger than Palestine Texas. And this kind of stuff is completely unacceptable.

But I dont think AP needs to be suspended or released from the team.

Pittsburgh - Ben Roethlisberger likes his girls quiet ... and motionless. That lineman running from police and blowing up a truck or something. Ben doesn't wear a motorcycle helmet. Mike Webster goes painfully insane (which would be a great name for a rock band).

So you think the owner of the site should give a public forum to people who are advocating something that disgusts him?

Let's say a football player got busted with some kiddie porn, and 75% of that team's fan forum started posting pro NAMBLA comments. Would the site's owner still be obligated to give them a soapbox?

The only thing that bothers me is a precedent which seems to be being set in major cases (not just in the NFL) where the media & public act as judge, jury and executioner instead of waiting for the legal system to proclaim guilt, THEN taking some actions. (innocent until proven guilty and all that)

I think in this case, AP has basically admitted doing 'the act' but the legal system hasn't determined whether it will rise to felony or not, etc....and exactly what he is guilty of (crime wise)

Emotions are high, yes. But I do have some confidence in the legal system...and in people in general. I do not think AP is a threat to society or his kids any more, I think he is in the beginning stages of learning a very big lesson....Not sure he should have his entire livelihood taken away...

Hopefully the NFL can set some type of standards, that if you are convicted of X, your punishment will be Y....and will start at ______________ time (either when charged or when convicted).

My main problem regarding NFL punishments is the inconsistency and arbitraRY nature of them....

I have absolutely no problems with whatever AP has coming his way, legally or from the NFL...I just would like to see a calm, rational decision that sets a good precedent for the future...and not some rush to punish him because of the zeitgeist at the moment , or mob mentality.

Whether it is a felony or not or whether he did it to other kids doesn't change him being a shitbag for doing what he did to kid #1. He's already met the shitbag threshold.

So...you're unsure of your feelings on him beating kid #1 until you determine if he also beat kid #2?

So...you're unsure of your feelings on him beating kid #1 until you determine if he also beat kid #2?

Of course, as any reasonable person (including Judges & the law) rightfully would be..

If this was just a one off incident where he lost his temper or whatnot....and is as dumb as he appears....., I could be inclined to forgive him..and be less harsh with punishments etc.....and my feelings would be less 'intense' (to put it in your female/moron terms of feelings)

If he has repeated this behavior after being warned or knowing it was wrong, etc...then it is much worse.

If he beat kid 1, got warned about it...then beat kid 2 after, its a WHOLE LOT WORSE in my eyes....

I don't suspect you truly are this stupid, I think you just have severe assbergers.. and enjoy getting the verbal shit kicked out of you daily, like some sort of sick masochist.

Dear White America (not all, but some). Before you seethe with hatred and criticism of this man's child rearing techniques (which I don't personally subscribe to) consider that this was taught to us, by you, as an effective form of discipline during our years of bondage. Yes, there are better ways, but not everyone has had exposure to these ways. So don't expect 400 years of institutionalized behavior to change over night, AND see that quality education is equally distributed to all, as a more effective way to protest this behavior...

Its a simple concept that is used in law all around the world, for a reason.....

Its always the same comment from your stupid ass...anytime you have nothing in the tank, just throw up a facepalm...

Kind of like your fake ass some how 'didn't know' that a college degree requires 2/3rds of the classes to be in general ed or electives and not in your major...

You are the most quasi intellectual , phony, assbergers having window licking piece of shit on this board....

I keep saying that the NFL should announce that this experiment failed and they're going back to 1978's business model... Have all players sign a concussion waiver, tell them that they'll play until convicted by a court, tell them that there won't be any drug testing (because it's not any of the business), tell them there's a post-conviction schedule of suspension, and tell the people who don't like it to fuck off. Oh, and tell the offenses to watch the fuck out because defense is legal again. Back to hard hitting football.
